Time for a new game!

ALTTP - SEED 2

There is no time limit to completing this seed! Take as long as you need!

Glitches Required: NoGlitches
ROM build: 2020-09-25
Accessibility: 100% Inventory
World State: Open
Swords: Randomized
Goal: Defeat Ganon
Permalink: https://alttpr.com/en/h/ZeM4VNLYyj

No glitches are required to beat this seed.
Every chest and item in the game is potentially accessible (Though not necessarily needed)
"Open" opening. Meaning you DO NOT have to rescue Zelda from the castle dungeon and go through the sewers to Sanctuary. You can choose to start either at Links House or Sanctuary. The Castle will still contain chests to check, but you will not be provided a light source for the sewer section.
Swords are randomized into the item pool and you may not find one for a while.
The goal is to get all 7 Crystals, beat the boss in Ganon's Tower, then kill Ganon

To get started click the "Permalink" above. You will be asked to provide the appropriate version of the ALTTP ROM. Anyone who doesn't have this can contact me and I'll point you in the right direction.
It also allows you to tailor the ROM to your own taste. This is purely cosmetic, but you can change Link's Sprite, the colour hearts appear and how quickly the "low health" warning bleeps.
Click "Save ROM" for it to download your patched ROM and then plug it into the emulator of your choice! I recommend BSNES where possible.
On the file select screen of the game you'll see a "Code" like below. If it matches, you're ready to go!

And done. As close to sub-2 as I'll ever get, methinks. Couple of schoolboy errors at the start really cost me the chance at it, sadly.

2hrs 1min 54 secs - Absolutely raging that I didn't get my sub 2 hours. Was my own fault as well. Sloppy execution and a couple of avoidable deaths screwed me over.

Genuinely annoyed.

Yep, exactly the same boat mate. Mine came at the start, one stupid decision and a really bad bit of execution near the start really cost me. A good seed, but a frustrating one! Image isn’t working - my time was 2hr6m57s I think.

I think I will try that LttP seed off stream tonight and use it as an opportunity to practice the dungeons.

Okay here's how my tracker is looking after 3 hours or so of that seed:

Image

I've erroneously clicked off the silver arrows - thought I picked them up but obviously I have not after facing the knight boss in EP.

Also managed to beat Blind without too much trouble.

Will probably do the Dark world version of EP next and then IP depending on what items I get.

Enjoying this run. Getting the Ocarina (very very) early has been useful!

Yeah, POD then IP would be my play.
You've got plenty of checks on Death Mountain you can get as well (14 not including Tower of Hera) so that will be worth checking at some point.

In terms of routing my priorities are always Crystal Dungeons that I can clear, then the most item dense locations. It's not guaranteed to give you progess, but it's a sound strategy.

I couldn't figure out how to get up to those Death Mountain checks without the mirror! Is there a way up for me?

Yeah.
Warp to DM then keep heading right (past the green rocks and deadrocks bastards) until you come to a broken bridge. You can use the Hookshot to cross over to the other side. :D

Ooh nice! I'll probably play the odds that there's likely something useful up there son will do that at the start of my next session!

I'm looking at maps of the dungeons to try and help me figure out the optimal routing too. I missed an item in EP (not the moon stone though!) but will leave it for now and play the odds again.

Enjoying playing this again. I hope one day to be able to do one of these in one sitting!

That's one of the things I did as well. I also watched a lot of randomizer races. That really helped with execution, as well as finding the most optimal route through individual rooms as I could see how other people did it.
Now I can do certain rooms almost by memory because they never change. It's literally a case of practice. If you want to get better at ALTTP specifically, I would look at generating your own seeds and running them.

The Weekly Challenge Seeds on the ALTTP Randomizer Reddit community are a good place to see how others get on with a given seed.

I did one of these earlier in the week that took 2:53 to finish and was that much of a pain in the arse that by the time I hit Go Mode I thought it'd be better just to get practice in and do the whole of Ganon's Tower including left side. Ended up with 204/216 checks completed and literally every item - all heart pieces, all big hearts, all bottles, all weapons and all upgrades.

Got really strawberry floated off with Ice Palace after getting stuck in there without any way to get enough bombs to progress so will give it a break for now. Tempted to sack this seed in until after I've watched a few runs but I'll maybe bash my head against it some more over the weekend.

Ocarina of Time - SEED 2

You can generate the ROM and set your cosmetic and SFX settings at the link below.
I would recommend going to the Cosmetic page and setting "Default Targeting Option" to "Switch" instead of "Hold". This means you don't need to hold Z everytime you lock-on, but it's personal preference.
You can also turn off or change Navi noises in the SFX menu.

https://ootrandomizer.com/seed/get?id=710856

It will ask you for an OOT ROM as well. You can find one here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/tlkdv1scgsedk ... 9.z64?dl=0

In order to avoid issues with getting the tracker set up for this (It's a bit more complex due to the number of options), I've set it up myself and then saved it.

Make sure you have the "OoT Randomizer Map Tracker" package by Hamsda installed in Emotracker (3rd one under the OOT section in the package list).

In Emotracker click on the Cog icon, then Application-File-Open and browse to the save file I created.

You can find that save here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/cs32azy9z154l ... .json?dl=0

If you wish to use a different tracker package, or set up the tracker yourself, you can find the seed metadata here.

Important SEED Notes

This is a TRIFORCE HUNT seed. You need to find 20 Triforce Pieces to win. The game ends as soon as you find the 20th piece.

Forest is OPEN - This means you DO NOT need to access and beat the Deku Tree dungeon before you can leave Kokiri Forest area. You have access to Deku Tree.
Kakariko Gate is CLOSED - You need to find and provide Zelda's letter to the guard in Kakariko village to open the gate and get access to Happy Mask Shop.
Door of Time is closed until you play the Song of Time (You can use either of the Ocarinas).
Zora's Fountain is closed until you provide Ruto's Letter to King Zora.
Gerudos Fortress will have four carpenters to save with an item at the end. Until you find the Gerudo Membership Card the Guards in the fortress will still chase and catch you. Membership card can be anywhere.
Access to Ganon's Tower requires 6 dungeon medallions and all 6 Trials within are required to get to Ganondorf.
Songs can be found anywhere an item is found
Playing Epona's song for a cow will provide an item
Kokiri Sword has been shuffled.
Ocarina's have been shuffled.
The Egg you get from Malon has been shuffled. You need this to wake Talon and visit Zelda and to get Malon/Talon back to Lon Lon and to get Saria to go to the Forest Temple entrance.
The stealth section to get to Zelda as a child has been skipped and you go straight to her and Impa.
Magic Beans are shuffled as well. Bean seller will have an item for 60 Rupees first time you meet him (then will sell bean top ups I believe).
Bean planting locations are noted on the tracker so you can keep track of ones that you have planted. Some will lead to items later on.
MediGoron and Desert Wasteland Carpet Salesmans items (Biggoron Sword and Bombchus) are in the item mix. They will now sell a random item.
All keys, maps and compasses are to be found in their appropriate dungeons, though they will be mixed about inside them.
There are rewards for getting 10 & 20 Skulltulas. No reward for 30, 40 or 50.
Players will start with the largest Wallet in the game and the Stone of Agony. Rupee hunting is gooseberry fool and I kept finding 200 Rupees when I only had the small wallet. Stone of Agony enables rumble and will allow you to find hidden grottos that can be accessed by bombing, or playing the Song of Storms. If your controller has no rumble, then it will show a small icon in the bottom left of the screen.
The D-Pad can be used to quickly access Ocarina's and Boots. Especially useful for quickly toggling boots on and off.
You always start with one free Medallion/Spiritual Stone. This is marked in the "FREE" slot within the tracker. This time it is the Zora Sapphire and I've already saved it on the tracker.
Some minigame phases have been skipped. So if a game has two prizes (Dampe race and Gerudo Horseback Archery) it is possible to get both prizes first time instead of having to do them twice.
Big Poe Target has been set at 5. There's no option to set that on the tracker, which always wants 10 Big Poes. Just be aware that once you have 5 Big Poes you can claim the item from the Hyrule Market Guard House.
FINALLY - Make sure and speak to the gossip stones, who will provide hints about item locations. It may give you a specific location for something, or it might tell you an area is on "the way of the hero" (Means there's an essential item there) or it might tell you a certain area is foolish (I.e there's strawberry float all you need there). The Path of Gold indicates a Triforce piece will be found there.

OOT SEED 2 Update - The tracker file in the original post did not have the Stone of Agony marked as collected (You start with it). This means that the hidden grottos it allows you to find will not appear as green. If anyone has already started using the tracker file, simply mark it off (It's to the left of the Triforce counter). I've updated the blank tracker file to have it marked as collected.

Give it a shot if you want.

I just feel like I'm not following any logic in it, just going "Oh I can go there now" and wandering over.

Doesn't help that the tracker is telling me I can access stuff that I can see no-way to access (Chests that are through a locked door when I've already checked everything I can in the dungeon and there are no-more keys), telling me I need a trick or glitch to access something else that I'm able to access just fine.
It's a load of fiddly shite.

I'm gonna give this tracker a go for the next OOT one we try.

Yeah I was having a lot of issues with the tracker on the last seed. E.g. there's a grotto in HF which as a kid you just need bombs for. But as an adult there is a red rock over it so you need a hammer. It tells you you can access this as an adult so i spent ages trying to figure out what I was missing!

I might have a look at that new tracker and give it a go.

BUMP

Got my new Brawler64 Wireless controller today so figured it'd be fun to give another OOT Seed a shot!

Ocarina of Time - SEED 3

You can generate the ROM and set your cosmetic and SFX settings at the link below.
I would recommend going to the Cosmetic page and setting "Default Targeting Option" to "Switch" instead of "Hold". This means you don't need to hold Z everytime you lock-on, but it's personal preference.
You can also turn off or change Navi noises in the SFX menu.

https://ootrandomizer.com/seed/get?id=730253

It will ask you for an OOT ROM as well. If you don't already have the required one you can find it here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/tlkdv1scgsedk ... 9.z64?dl=0

I have not generated an EmoTracker file this time around as I'm going to be trying a web-based tracker to see how that works. (https://track-oot.net/)

With this tracker you can upload the "spoiler log" for the SEED and I believe it will configure itself accordingly.

You can find the spoiler log file here: https://ootrandomizer.com/spoilers/get?id=730253

Save that then on the tracker site, once it's loaded, go to "Extras -> Upload Spoiler". Check the "Load settings from spoiler" box, click the "Load spoiler" button in the bottom left, navigate to the saved spoiler file and click ok. Finally click "Submit" in the bottom right and it will load the settings for the seed into the tracker.

If you wish to use a different tracker package, or set up the tracker yourself, you can find the seed metadata here.
