So Seed 3 OOT is my first ever Randomiser challenge, and I spent most of the night just trying to get my DS4 to work with Project 64.

Now that is sorted, I've basically done everything possible as child link at the moment except spend any serious time trying to complete the Deku tree as on my first foray I managed to get locked in a room I couldn't defeat as I didn't have a shield.

The tracker is pretty decent although I was hoping it would link between chests being checked off and logging your items. i'm not always sure I've crossed off the right chest and would be good to get confirmation of such.

I'm also not sure what the correct solution for getting all the cuckoos is in Kakariko, pretty sure I cheesed access to the rear section of town.

Glad to see you jumping in Roon. :D

Learning a randomiser is an ongoing process, so don't feel bad about getting stuck in places, or not knowing everything.

- I also got stuck in the Deku Scrub room  Save & Quit is a great way to quickly get back to a dungeon entrance/links house/temple of time and I use it all the time.

- Knowing what chest is what takes time and practice. I'm still learning them as well. Sometimes I'll have a map of a dungeon on my other monitor which can be helpful as well. Don't feel bad about googling stuff or asking as it can be the best way to learn.

- The Cuckoos in the back half need you to take one of the cuckoos from elsewhere in the village, go up to the windmill door and then leap off the ledge and over the fence. Then just throw all the cuckoos back over. :D

- Learning the logic behind a randomizer can be part of the fun. This link explains some of the mechanics and how certain sections work. https://wiki.ootrandomizer.com/index.php?title=Logic

EDIT: I would add that it's also perfectly fine to walk away from a seed as well. I started about 5 or 6 before I finally pushed my way all the way to the end of one.

Ooh I never managed this! Any tips for what finally cracked it? I have DS4 windows but still couldn't get it playing nice.

Glad you're enjoying the randomiser! I may give this one a crack at some point but haven't been feeling too into doing a Rando this week.

For the cuckoos, i put a cuckoo on the fence on the windmill balcony by lining up on the stairs and then climbed onto the fence, grabbed the cuckoo, inched all the way along that fence and then jumped. Every normal attempt at getting over with the cuckoo failed.

With the DS4, i made sure DS4Windows was working and then went into PJ64 controller plugin and checked XInput. This assumes a 360 controller, so you have to remap your controls into it. All the internet advice assumes there is a dropdown for a gamepad in one of the other tabs in this plugin section, but I didnt have it on mine so kept hitting this wall, which using XInput resolved without requiring the dropdown.

I also had to turn the memory allowance up from 4Mb to 8Mb to even get the randomiser to load without crashing but that was a whole seperate issue.

At some point I'll have to switch to mouse controls to do the archery game though. How did we do this back in the day with one analogue?

If you just run straight off the edge holding a Cuckoo you should get straight over it. So not sure why it wouldn't work.

From 2:26 shows it.

Okay, 100 checks in and its all opening up. Took me forever to find the slingshot so I've been struggling and I finally found it. Annoyingly, I could have found it much sooner. Ended up glitching Dodongo's cavern without it and got the Goron Ruby, and later found out if you go Temple of Time it'll basically tell you which places have the child stones in them and you don't need them to open the door to adulthood (the other reason I've struggled a bit).

Anyway, I have all but 5 key items needed to do any chest, and I know the location of one of them. It should come together pretty fast now.

Two more temples down, three left to do and done a partial for each of them. Got a fourth I can just ignore.

Oddly, biggest issues on this run have been finding key items that gatekeep a lot of what you need, but don't do anything else.

I'm going through seed 3 for ocarina of time, really enjoying it although I'm completely stuck right now. Good thing nobody's on stream at the moment! :eyes:

I'm still on look for ocarina of any sort, egg so I can wake up farm girl's dad, letter to open gate to Death Mountain so I can open gate and do mask quest and still on look for Zelda's Melody...

Fun though, very refreshing too.

I got bad news for you Seven. I'm still looking for some of those! I'm starting to think I'll never find them. I think I remember where I found the one I have though. Let me know if you want my best recollection.

Glad to hear you're having a crack at the Randomiser though.

Remember bombs can give you access to death Mountain a different way....

But I don't remember if you have bombs!

I'd welcome any, at worst we can work together sorting it out

I can explore world as both Young and Adult Link, but I've hit another wall. So far my progress looks like this:

Image

I've explored Shadow Temple but can't do anything without Zelda's song, I can't do Forest Temple without bracelets (turns out you still need them even as adult), no Storm song, no bottle with Ruto's letter in it and I don't have iron boots yet.

I'm gonna try fishing as adult link, I got Hover Boots as Young Link.

This randomizer is hurting my head.......and I like it.

Looks like you can get to Spirit Temple as a child and do a chunk of that?

I never thought I'd feel despair at seeing money again in Ocarina of Time.

So you need to do some stuff over in Gerudo and Desert areas.

I don't remember needing the ocarina in Shadow Temple but maybe I'm mis-remembering.
