In fact, Miyamoto promises that the version on display at E3 is considerably less accurate than the final game will be, since the E3 build is entirely focused around Wii Motion Plus; due to the likelihood of interference from lights, Nintendo has temporarily disabled the standard Wii sensor aspect of the game. However, Miyamoto promises it will be restored for the final version, resulting in much smoother controls.

We know the M+ has to recalibrate itself every so often or it goes nuts, but it seems the E3 demo never recalibrated and had no sensor bar so all the controls were just working from the M+, rather than the M+ and sensor bar in tandem. The controls look really smooth in the videos, so the idea of it getting even smoother in the final version is awesome.

It's weird how Link runs around with his sword pointed up, it can't be like that for the final game because it's daft but it could well be something to do with keeping the M+ centered

Link needs to hold his sword up to charge it. Is that what you're talking about? The player can also hold the sword any way they want, so it would only be up if the player was holding it that way.

The sword is up while running because of how you hold the remote when not swinging it, pointing up.

Don't people normally have their remote pointing forwards, towards the screen?

It's more natural to hold it upwards as your wrist isn't pointing downwards.

I usually have the Wii-mote resting on my thigh, pointing towards the screen.

You can sheathe your sword though if the thought of having to run around with a sword at a weird angle is enough to put you off.

Sheathing the sword by moving the remote over your shoulder would be pretty cool.

Zelda: 'Art overhaul' delayed release - Aonuma

Zelda Skyward Sword would be in our hands right now if Elji Aonuma hadn't been told to re-do the art style, the dev believes.

When Zelda Wii was announced at E3 last year. The artwork featured a more 'realistic-looking' Link, which Skyward Sword clearly doesn't.

Big graphical changes to the game are the main reason for the 2011 release date according to Aonuma:

"If I hadn't been told we had to re-do the art style then the game would already be done," Aonuma told ONM.

"That being said we think there's a great relationship between the graphics and the gameplay. I think we will achieve a really great balance."

Miyamoto believes that the result will be worth the wait. "I think the art style is very unique," he told ONM at the roundtable discussion.

"I am a big fan of impressionism and the sky and the land in the demo for E3 have a definite Cezanne feel to them."

Yesterday Miyamoto said that Skyward Sword could technically still be released this year since the gameplay is "almost complete".

I'd have been quite happy with the previous art style. Miyamoto did say in the roundtable interview that the graphics are sill being polished though so perhaps it won't look quite so rough around the edges when it's done.

If I am going to be honest this looks really drab, and I would have preferred a more realistic look. Either that or go back to child link and do proper cel shading.

I think a painted look like Okami would be great. Also, they need to redesign link a bit since that model does not really fit with cel shading at all.

I like the style... 'realistic' looking Zelda games are pants - the feel of them isn't usually gritty enough to accompany them. Cell shaded but not overly cartoony is the right choice imo.

I love the current look, but when you compare the Wind Waker to it's original E3 showing they changed quite a bit.

Presumably the same will happen here, so the finished version will have more of that patented Nintendo magic™ about it.

I've watched a few gameplay videos again, and it's nice to see that Link appears to have a sprint move this time. I get tired of rolling everwhere

I'm really not sure that rolling is actually any quicker.
