It's almost like some people don't understand the point of a discussion board.

At the minute I don’t think there is any need for concern, Nintendo will know they don’t have a load of games coming out this year so even if they have a trailer in the expected February direct and a focused direct on this even in March, the excitement for it will still be huge as there isn’t loads more for Nintendo fans to get excited for this year sadly. If this is a no show at the next direct then I might start to get a little worried about its May release date.

Discuss away then, why are you concerned?

Nintendo have been tight lipped about projects in the past that have turned out great so I'm not particularly worried by the lack of information we've had so far. My feeling/hope is that they are deliberately being limited in what they share as there is something significant they are trying to keep secret about the experience, and it would be great to see that pay off and really surprise us when the time comes

I had started to wonder whether there is something massive about the game that they are holding back for whenever they end up doing a big blowout. Perhaps expanding on the underground stuff they showed in the first trailer. Still, that's already been seen so it still seems strange to me they've shown so little when there have been plenty of opportunities to reveal more. Unless of course it is a huge reveal like the Great Sea or something.

I don't think it will be delayed as if it was I'd expect they'd know by now and if so the news about them not being at E3 would seem a little strange.

I guess any reservations are because what's been shown so far (after that first trailer, which was brilliant) hasn't really had much of an impact. I've never been this close to a new mainline Zelda release and had such relatively little anticipation and excitement for it. Not that I don't think it'll be good, just it'd be nice to actually see what I'll be doing.

I think the reason we have not seen much of it was due to them not knowing when the game was going to be ready to release. After we got the delay video last year we only got 1 main Direct after that which featured a trailer with the release date.

We will get a bigger blowout soon enough, I could easily see a trailer next week followed by either a Zelda themed Direct coming later or a Treehouse Live event showing a full gameplay demo.

Nintendo aren't releasing any more trailers out of respect for the late Queen

I'm growing to like the "less is more" approach to learning about new games. I touched upon this before, but I'm a little tired of seeing "everything" about a game before buying it; with games marketing nowdays and the desire for pre-purchase orders, it's as if we know every character and every stage before actually playing the game.

The more I think about it, the more I realise that I enjoy not knowing anything about Tears of the Kingdom. And I'm still excited to play it!

I try to do this as much as I can with any game that I'm definitely going to buy at some point. Go in as blind as possible and even the smallest new thing is a delight. Elden ring was a blind experience and it was all the better for it. I won't be watching any new trailers or reading any new info on this game before I buy it.

o/. I have avoided reading or watching much about Elden (I did see a just a little bit of aayl playing the start of it!) so that it'll be totally fresh when I do tackle it. And, yeah, it's gonna be the same with Tears!

I think one issue is they haven't really shown anything to make us truly excited for this yet. My excitement completly boils down to it being the sequel to BOTW, not anything new or interesting they've shown us.

Also, this is going to sound silly but the name doesnt work for me. I can't explain it but usually Zelda titles feel "right" as soon as you hear them but this one feels off for some reason.

Regardless, this has had a huge development time when you consider its building on the first. I know covid hurt them but nonetheless I'm expecting them to be holding a lot of cards up their sleeves that they'll lay out when they finally do a big blowout. Which could be anytime now.

We're definitely getting something this month. Nintendo these days do the big info blowouts within a few months of release, sometimes even announcing and releasing within a six month window. The next Direct for sure.

I am very sure this will not be delayed and very sure-er it will be fab and everyone (who loved BotW) will love it. I am also hoping that the more BotW agnostic like myself might like it more than the first (which I did like!) with some of the changes.

Most of all I'm hoping its inevitable pre-release trailer is as good as this one, which is still for my money probably the greatest game trailer ever:

So good they included the music (called something like BotW 2017 Trailer BGM) as a Smash Bros track. So good I think it stands apart from the game for me as one of my favourite crafted videos in its own right - the cuts! the cadence! the Zelda cry bit!

I also hope there's more use of the main theme in general this time round for that in-game epic-ness, so that it actually feels as momentous as the trailer.

What I'm trying to say here is I'm keen for the game but also keen for the prospect of a new all-timer trailer! :D

I'd forgotten just how good that trailer was.

Christ, now I'm wondering if I can fit in a BOTW playthrough before this.

That BOTW trailer

We’ll get a Direct next week, likely Wednesday, we’ll see something of Zelda then. Not sure if it will be the big blowout or just a trailer and details of a Zelda specific Direct coming in March/April

Do we think we will be collecting these ‘Tears of the Kingdom’ like each one is a tear from a great sage that will be hidden in a dungeon?
