Just beaten the fourth Divine Beast on Master Mode and I have to say it's a big load of nothing. None of the bosses have posed much of a problem considering I'm fairly low level in terms of strength. If I didn't have the constant reminder I wouldn't even notice it was any harder really. The floating platforms are quite cool but certainly not paid DLC worthy. They'd better make the story DLC pretty meaty or I'd have to say it's pretty poor value for money.

Going through the map a second time I wouldn't be surprised to see it set in Hebra as you really have no reason to visit that region other than curiosity.

While the game remains absolutely astonishingly playable and utterly breathtakingly gorgeous I feel like it lacks in some set piece moments and I love the bosses and Divine Beast attacks, which many don't. I think back to some event sequences in previous Zeldas and find this comes up a little short. Of course so much of this occurs naturally as you play which is what makes it such a joy to spend time with but I do miss the feeling of looking forward to that escort mission across Hyrule Field or race to out do a villain etc.

Any sequel could really do with some old school proper dungeons, although the ones in this aren't bad as such. They are definitely on the weaker end of the scale when it comes to Zelda dungeons though.

Is this something you only think after getting to mid/late game? The challenge definitely drops off - but the great plateau is noticeably way more difficult on master mode with massive weapon scarcity and that lynel near the hut.

Also I haven't done it myself, but the trials of the sword are supposedly (and presumably) much more difficult.

I think this lot of DLC will come into its own when combined with the next lot. I'm waiting to start a new playthrough with new story content + harder difficulty + challenge modes, with the goal of finding and completing every single shrine this time and maybe doing a better job with Koroks too (I think I could aim for three-quarters of them...). That'll easily be another worthwhile 100+ hours, and I think it'll feel fresh.

Hahaha cooking spicy peppers.

I didn't know about cooking back then so I took about 100 apples and ate one every time I took damage.

This seems really special. The rain stopping you from climbing when you need to seems a bit over the top though.

You slip every four or five steps (can't remember which) so I just jump before the last step to kinda cancel out the height you lose from slipping.

I tell you what, getting up to Ploymous Mountain for the Zora quest in the rain when I'd loaded all my upgrades into health and hadn't done the Rito Divine Beast yet was a right strawberry floating bastard.

Also the health regeneration on Ganon is a cocker because when he goes invincible you need to wait for him to attack before you can do damage making the fight nigh on impossible without cheesing it.

If I remember correctly, you take four steps then slip on the fifth, but it increases with climbing gear equipped. Climbing in the rain is okay with climbing gear and full set bonus.

Master Mode beaten :datass:

The ending cinematics are rather disappointing

120.51% completion in 305 hours.

Dare I go for the double tonne :shifty:

At first I really liked this game but as someone who hasn't played many games the last few years I'm rusty and finding the combat too difficult even with fairy easy enemies. It's a bit of shame there's no difficulty setting as then I could bash the buttons and enjoy the world and story but I'll probably end up just putting the game away.

Time a dodge and unleash a fury attack or practice deflecting attacks with a shield.

Take you time and work from a distance worked for me, don't go running in, side on on a hill and pick off the group and use fire lanterns and bomb kegs to do your work for you.

Its more about using the right weapons than it is about skill for most of the enemies. If you are getting beat a lot then there's probably a better way to go about fighting.

You may also be in a place you shouldn't be yet, might be worth trying somewhere else.

I've been a bit under the weather for a couple of days and ended up putting a lot more time into this. I'm going to say that I still think a lot of my critisms are valid but man, the world is absolutely stunning.

I can manage to pick off the easier enemy camps but the
yiga clan
people destroy me overtime with their darting around!!

I found it easier to get them straight after they teleport. Just concentrate on avoiding them while targeting them until you learn their attack pattern. I found they often appear behind Link.
