The shield surfing in this really makes me want an open-world snowboarding game. I wish you could surf easier on rocky areas, I was gagging to shred some gnar on Death Mountain. :x

I barely used the shield surfing because it broke your shields, and I only had ones I wanted on me. A case where degradation was a definite negative for me because it stopped me from doing something I enjoyed in the game.

But it's funny when your shield breaks and you go flying off a cliff.

Or just shield surf on snow. No degradation.

Don't think it degrades on sand either, or at least it's very reduced.

Made it to Hateno Village and had a good look around, what a lovely place  now doing the quest to further repair the Sheikah Slate... well I say that, I’ve just gone off exploring a little part of Hyrule that I rushed through before. Was scaling a mountain that I earmarked earlier to come back too when a giant mini-boss popped up again, beat him this time.

I could quite happily play - and have been playing - this with no real direction or purpose other than just to see as much of the world as possible and simply exist in it. It’s an absolutely incredible game, I feel like any other game I play afterwards is going to feel totally inferior in comparison.

Yeah just exploring is amazing. I was fully convinced how brilliant the world was when I was wandering (mild location spoilers) the beautifully peaceful plateau east of Kakariko, south of the Rutala river, and a guy warned me it was impossible to cross the river without going way downsteam to a bridge. I ignored his warning then drowned about 5 times in the attempt. The way they created such a natural and realistic barrier was great.

As long as you can still break it by laying out a whole inventory of metal weapons on the floor, I'm in

Part of my idea would be that robot enemies drop parts that you use. So you would be free to move them like that. They could have battery packs they drop that replace keys.

Keep using cryonis to make blocks.

I wonder if you could actually do this, can you get a thermal off burning equipment? I'm thinking cryonis block with a wooden shield on top of it.

I don't think you get an updraft from burning equipment, I could be wrong though. Not sure if it's a dynamic system or just limited to set things (i.e. grass on fire = updraft), would be cool if you could set fire to enough wood/wooden equipment in a small location and the game worked out that enough heat was being generated to create an updraft...
