There was a program on E4 earlier looking back at all the women Ted dated and stuff. It's strawberry floating hilarious in hindsight knowing what happens in the last episode.

Speaking of the last episode, Lilly looks OLD.

The show about the women of I HIMYM was depressing as this show had no direction for the last 3/4 seasons. Gah - we'll always have the Pineapple Incident - great episode when Ted wasn't a total wanker.

Watched the finale last night

Thought it was hilarious that from the first season they'd already decided on the ending since the kids are still young there when it was recorded.

Watched the finale for the first time last night. Really rather disappointed with how that ended. Did not do the show justice IMO. I haven't read this thread so don't know what the general consensus was - I'll have a look now.

I'm not sure how to explain it further to you. What's your reading level on the Oxford reading tree? Maybe I could adjust it to your level ;)

So in the alternative ending - do Robin and Barney stay together?

Looks like it. It doesn't look like the mother died either.

The problem with the ending wasn't that Tracy died (after all everyone dies eventually) it was that her death was immediately pushed aside so Ted could get with Robin. It meant the final beat of the series wasn't "How I met your Mother" but "How Robin eventually settled for me".

This alternate is still way better than what they actually used but I prefer "Ted died on his way back to his home planet".

I watched the pilot for this earlier, it's infuriating because it makes it very clear that the ending was what they'd planned all along. Which would have been fine had the following 9 seasons of tv not moved as far from that ending as possible. :fp:

A “How I Met Your Mother” sequel series titled “How I Met Your Father” has been ordered at Hulu with Hilary Duff attached to star.

In the near future, Sophie (Duff) is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the year 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options. According to an individual with knowledge of the project, it remains unclear how/if the new show will tie into the original.

The new series hails from “This Is Us” co-showrunners and “Love, Victor” co-creators Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who serve as writers and executive producers on the news series. “How I Met Your Mother” creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are also onboard as executive producers. Duff will produce in addition to starring, with Adam Londy serving as co-executive producer. 20th Television will produce the new series as it did with the original. Aptaker and Berger are currently under an overall deal at the studio.
