I watched an episode of this on E4 the other day. It was a Halloween one which showed Robin as being the most awful, selfish, self-centred person ever and that guy dumps her for it and she's just like "ok "

The one where Lilly just leaves Marshall because ???* was on recently too.

There was also the one where Ted stands up his date just before he walks into the restaurant with the smuggest look on his face of all time because he's still thinking about Robin.

Awful, awful, awful people.





*she's an absolutely horrible, dislikeable character like everyone else in the show

Marshall's still alright, and Barney at least never tried to hide the fact that he was a complete banana split. Robin gets a pass because I'd go to jail for a very long time if I ever end up in the same room as Cobie Smulders. Ted and Lily are just awful though. I actually hope the last episode sees them hit with a steamroller. Why did we never see middle-aged Ted? Because he's a strawberry floating PANCAKE MAN.

The worst.

Ted ending up with Robin isn't even my main gripe at the minute. It's that they had been hyping the wedding for two years now. Flash forwards and then the wedding weekend that would never end. So of course they wipe the whole thing away with "we're divorced" ten minutes in.

Two ok seasons followed by 7 of total gooseberry fool capped off with a gigantic kick in the teeth. Good riddance.

Pretty much. In ten minutes we go from Barney and Robin's wedding to them announcing their divorce (although its three years later in the story) the mother dies (AND WE DONT SEE IT) and at the end the kids tell Ted (in scenes probably filmed years ago) that the whole story was so Ted could ask them if he can date Robin, which he does appearing outside her window with the blue horn. Lily and Marshall were obselete

It wasn't all bad though The scene where Ted actually meets the mother is well-written, well-acted and very sweet. Barney's character arc was good too, despite the terrible divorce thing and undoing of three seasons of character development.

Ends with a fantastic song I've loved for some time as well

Even in the final episode where he meets the mother she's barely in it. That said the "meet" scene was really sweet, if only it had all been like that.
