So have they just given up on trying to have the characters be remotely likeable? I've been watching the current season on E4 and they are just horrible people. It's like they wrote the first half of the episode, realised Robin looked like a bitch and instead of rewriting the garbage they had produced decided to fix things by trying to make James more loathsome than Robin. Even their friends are horrible if you look at the wedding present storyline.

"How twats end up together" would have been a better name for the show.

Am I right in thinking we've seen the 19th episode of the ninth season and Ted stillhasn't met the mother?

Spending the whole season at the wedding was always going to be a terrible idea, and the last couple of seasons haven't been very good either, but there have been some signs that they can make a touching ending.

I imagine that the vast majority of HIMYM watchers aren't going to be the slightest bit interested in the spin-off seeing the way the show has gone, so that's probably going to bomb hard.

Really? Despite the fact we knew the pair of them talked just prior to the wedding and that Robin was having doubts. It's not the worst thing that ever happened

Oh come on, half the penultimate episode being dedicated to a storyline we have known for NINE YEARS doesn't amount to anything is just unforgiveable.

For one thing, we have actual interesting plot strands that have emerged in the past couple of episodes (their first date, a 'disease' etc), so to, again, spend 10 out of 20 minutes having a last go round of a ride that was last wrapped up WITH A ROBIN BALLOON is just... Ugh.

Imagine if Breaking Bad was called 'How I Got Shot in a Nazi Meth Lab' and half the penultimate episode was him, again, talking to Skyler about turning himself in which we know he doesn't because in the first strawberry floating episode he said 'This is how I got shot in a meth lab because I didn't turn myself in'.

JUST GO TO THE strawberry floating NAZI METH LAB YOU CANCER-RIDDEN banana split.

strawberry floating 90 minutes of a nine year show left, and we spend them establishing that Ted and Robin don't get together (which we have known for nine years) and that Marshall and Lily love each other (which we have known for nine years).

Stellar writing, just exemplary.

Yes the whole Ted/Robin thing has been strawberry floating atrocious, but it's been going on for so long and they've been so determined to draw it out I don't see how anyone can be surprised or angry to see it crop up one last time.
