It will fail as the only people who will watch the pilot will be current HIMYM fans and a percentage of them won't like it so will switch off. Leaving the show with lower ratings than HIMYM currently which isn't doing as well as it used to. It will then get cancelled as the network would be hoping for at least the same ratings as HIMYM.

I don't know whether it's a sign of how far this show has fallen or what but I genuinely thought that was one of the best episodes I've seen in a while.

Conversely, I thought it was the worst episode yet, far worse than the rhyming one, and I started using my tablet after the opening minute or two. A terrible episode in a horrendous season.

Okay 9x16 was really good, best episode for a long, long time. The mother is totally dead in the future though.
