Whenever I build Lego with kids I always tell them I have a PhD in Lego and am a master builder (there's only actually one of those in the world but hey). My job is mainly to apply stickers.

Currently considering either the Winter Station or Winter Fire Station for my Christmas display. The Fire Station currently has 2x VIP points but the Station would go better with the train. Anyone bought either? They both look nice but seem quite expensive for what you get. Do like the look of the micro build Diagon Alley freebie though.

I got the Winter Station last year. It's a nice wee set, but, as you say, is pretty expensive for what you get. The Fire
Station looks to be about the same sort of build; quite small, but with lots of nice touches.

I guess it depends what sort of display you're making, if the train and station are going to be the centerpiece, or if you also have the toy shop and want to make it like more of a village.

Hope that was of some help :)

Christmas freebie announced and double VIP points this weekend

https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-double-vip-points-and-40292-christmas-gift-box-this-weekend/

Much nicer than last year's Nutcracker Demon, and Hogwarts is one of the qualifying double points sets :toot:

That's pretty nice. Going to pick up the Winter station this weekend I think.

By the way, you can also activate a £5 refund if you use paypal. Link - https://shop.lego.com/en-GB/PP?icmp=HP- ... paypal-778

Nice choice, and thanks for notice on the eBay credit. Think I'll put that and the points from Hogwarts towards the Fire Station as well.

I'm contemplating getting the Fire Station, but I'm not sure where I'd put it :dread: Noticed that in their Black Friday sales there's 30% off the app-controlled Batmobile. I'm really tempted. I loved the old Lego RC 5-in-1 build

The Batmobile is £54 on Amazon today. Couple of other sets at 40% off, mostly Lego Friends but the Ghostbusters and BTTF brickheads are included.

Ordered the Winter train station and the extra track pack this morning. That freebie looks really decent.

Just in case anyone's still got Christmas shopping to do, there's double VIP points at the moment. I had an email about getting a free Lego Black Card display stand with ANY Lego Star Wars purchase, too, so I just bought a Rey keychain to get it.

Picked up the Fire Station at the same time for the double VIP points and the free winter carousel, too :shifty: No idea where it'll all go. Already filled up a shelf with all the christmas lego :slol:

I wish I hadn't jumped right on buying the Fire Station in November; I didn't want to miss the double points but now I'm missing out on the little carousel instead.

Built the free present one last night though, really nice and compact little set :)

Lego Architecture San Francisco set is coming to early 2019!

I will definitely buy it and add to my few architecture sets on the shelves.

I picked up this little dude for just £2 in my Tesco's clearance area which it being Lego makes almost no sense at all. £7.69 on Amazon, now he's on my workshop shelf in his little pen with an extra bone in the packet. A bunch of new pieces as well.

Image

If anyone else wants one I'll happily forward by post for £1.20 but doubt it will last long.

I'm tempted to get a second one just so I can push them together to make an enclosed pen with 2 baby raptors

Looking at the other sets, strawberry floating hell how much did they pay for this license :dread:

I've just finished rebuilding my technic backhoe grader

Had a few missing pieces, but I put thast down to it being I dad's house forever, I'm amazed it survived at all really.

It's a pretty so so build until you hit all the gears and pneumatics, then it gets really complex and great fun. Pretty challenging to pit some bits together too. All made with mostly standard parts too so there's no big moulded shite like you get on newer sets :dread:

I really remember getting this from Argos for my birthday and going for a meal afterwards, I just couldn't stop lifting the window flap of the box and looking at all those bits inside.

I was NINE when I got it. NINE! (Not studying german).

That's lovely mate. I had a smaller pneumatic set; I may have been roughly the same age when I got it: I too can remember the Christmas day I got it. I ended up getting told off for some reason or other and cried all the way home from my grandparents' home. :slol:

It was this one:

Always loved the pneumatic features. Spent ages just dicking around with them on their own.

Nice work Ad. I went through a real Technic phase as a kid and the construction vehicles were always the ones that I was eyeing up for birthdays or Christmas presents.

The Backhoe Loader was one of my favourites:

Poser, that old set

I love the imagination that goes with the old style sets, so much of it is standard parts that have been made to look like something by suggestion rather than outright moulded to be a particular thing (I would be happier if the front and rear yellow buckets were made out of standard bricks in this case too as I think it would look better.

Jenuall, for the above reason I really don't like the look of that set, maybe it's just how stud free and smooth the beams are, but it looks off. But then of thwwt was your techinc introduction then you'd think the older stuff looks gooseberry fool I'd imagine.

Here's my first ever big set, my parents got me this when I was far too young to have it (six years old!) But I always loved it. Don't have it now though (Not my pic). How basic the set is

I know what you mean about the older designs, I'm fairly certain the one I've posted up there is not the one I had back in the day as it does look way too "clean" by comparison!

Some of the things they can do with modern technic is incredible, but I do miss that chunky yet elegant style of the older stuff.

EDIT: Yeah just checked and that design is apparently from 2011 so definitely not what I would have been building back in the 90s!
