Saw the new Jurassic Park set in the window of the Lego Shop today. Looks even better in real life but it's massive and I don't have anywhere to put it.

Anyone got the steamboat willy set? Is it worth the price. Looks small to me

Got an email today saying this was available for VIP to order. Not sure on it, can't quite put my finger on what I don't like but I'm thinking the wheels. Maybe they should have gone with spoked?

Just ordered Apollo 11 Lunar Lander and it will go nicely with my Apollo 11 Rocket.

A few weeks ago I figured it was about time I got around to sorting out the spare room, which basically contains a whole horde of boxes of lego that I haven't touched since I was a kid. In typical annoying kid fashion, I had a load of lego sets, and then broke them all up to rebuild something else, and then mixed all the pieces up together, and didn't touch them for 15-odd years.

So I figured I'd start with digging out all my old instruction manuals, so I can get a handle on what models I should be looking for. I'm hoping I can eventually dig out all the bits for that Explorien Starship - I loved that set as a kid, so if I can manage to put it back together I'd try and keep it intact this time





In amongst all my instruction books, I stumbled upon a couple for those old Znap sets - Basically Lego does K'Nex. I'd totally forgotten it existed



Ad would love it. Literally the only legacy bricks it uses are the little round axles and the motors. Weirdly, the images in the manual are for some reason photographs of the sets being put together.

I love that spaceship because it looks like something a kid would actually build while still being awesome, probably miraculously holds together while playing too. I kind of miss the Lego designs that were like crazy landscapes of their own alongside nonsensical fluctuations in size and step angles made up of blocks and hinged parts, that aren't remotely scientific. I mean, that thing has three cockpits and a rear-mounted laser turret thing facing 4 different trajectories I guess since moulded parts came into play things started looking more coherent and consistent to "Earth" designs but then space stations etc. aren't actually at all aerodynamic because there's no strawberry floating air. Probably started with the Space Shuttle.

The "Mars" series wasn't bad at all though, I have about half of that collection (not the big base).

I must have at least something from that series as I have the sticker/plate part in the lower left of the box art.

Does anyone remember a sort of tin-robot style red & black space robot? I think it had a rotating head and stuff, and drove along on those big wheels. It was red and black and probably stood 8-12 inches high. My brother recently confessed decades later to pouring most of it behind a radiator and then blaming it on my childminder's son. I always wondered why when they removed said radiator many years later they didn't collect it all up

That was cool too, the contrast of red/black and the neon green. Shouldn't really work but it did, giving those sets a sort of dark appearance... Reminds me of stuff like Captain Scarlet/Thunderbirds where bright colours and metals, laser/light effects and smoke etc. were all thrown in together and all the bad guys were in black leather with bald heads and moustaches

My space Lego was older than that 'System' shite.

It does look ace though. Nice that the kits were still made from 'proper' Lego bricks.

My eldest daughter built Frankie the Cat from the Lego Boost set last week. It's pretty awesome.

My son still can't be arsed to build the technical Lego kit I bought him last Christmas.

Sorely tempted by the Saturn V. Not as expensive as I expected it to be.

Pretty sure it's the second (bigger one, obviously). They make it look kinda underwhelming by setting the scene and scale too small.

Now I know where that robot minifig belongs though. Sadly it's missing the head - I forgot that super cool clear helmet!! So at least that's something. I think I just give it a blank black had that I have for some reason and you can always put a black visor on such figures.

I am not sure if the Lego Land parks still do the special edition sets that you can only buy from them but if so and anyone wants anything getting then let me know as I will be going to the Florida one next month
