I think it's good, they've added value combining both concepts rather than just making a bunch of Mario minifigs which we all know would stlll cost £100 for some reason, see Simpsons and Jurassic World Lego.

The parahna plant seesaw thing looks neat. How would you make goombas and bowser and koopas and parahnah plants to minifig scale? THey'd be way too detailed the fit the Lego style, granted they have done things like sharks and octopi and monkeys etc. I guess it's possible but those things don't need lots of small printed details to make them what they are. I think that would look even less like Lego than some of the most recent ninjagogo and those weird animal furry warrior things.

They'd all just end up seperated on eBay by minifig hoarding morons who don't even build Lego for a tenner each. It's weird. Just like the Jurassic Park Lego Ideas gate thing, it's actually made of proper Lego and that's not right, they should have made minifigs. strawberry float minifigs man, I remember when they weren't even a thing.

That's all I tend to use them for. All the other options seem to be digital wallpapers, colouring sheets etc. I don't recall ever seeing a 'special' item or anything like that.

They can really rack up, especially if there are double points on the go, so they're worth hanging on to if you're wanting to build up a wee 'money off' balance.

I think just after they introduced the new Rewards system you could redeem loads for the limited edition Batpod set, but it disappeared almost immediately and they haven't done anything since. You can just redeem a few points now for competition entries or theme park tickets.

Tempted to treat myself to the saturn V set. I've not bought a proper Lego set since I was a kid, and I had so much fun with that charity shop find, that id love something to build. The falcon looks amazing but too much for me really, especially at these times.

Yes it is retired. Amazon have some in the stock but £217!

It's an amazing build which I have one at home with the Lunar Lander. I am tempting to buy the ISS but I don't have enough room where I could put it on!

Most of the best sets I've build has retired so I can't really recommend any unless you're paying above the original RRP.

But the one that haven't got retired yet: 1989's Batman movie's Batmobile is easily one of the best builds ever.

That launch tower looks sick although sketchy as strawberry float.

The medical frigate in the background is a Lepin set so it's probably likely the tower isn't legit lego either

Thoughts on Lepin and/or other erm....Lego replacement services.

I've got a friend who's bought a couple and loves them (steamboat willie, the... flying dutchman, I think? It's a big Pirates set that was never actually a real lego set). In terms of the licensed sets, they'll usually have to change up the stickers to get around any trademarked names (like the "Stranger Things" Lepin set has a big sticker that says "Stranger Story" instead which makes it a bit obvious it's a rip-off). Don't know if the Ghostbusters fire station has anything that big and obvious in it, though.

Always had a soft spot for A-Wings but £180 seems like a big chunk of change.

In other news, had a £20 VIP voucher burning a hole so ordered up the dinosaur fossil set. Concerned it's a bit one note, especially in the colours but might be a fun build.

So we just spent £300 on Minecraft lego for the kids.

This is going to get hella expensive isn't it.

I found the Dinosaur fossil a really fun build, and it's great how it all fits together.

Speaking of which girlfriend and I finished that set at the weekend and now on the lookout for something else. Would like a fun build in the sub £100 price category. Ideally something a bit more interesting to look at than a car. Any suggestions?

Edit: Also would be great if it had more than 1 part to it so we could get the reward of finishing something without having to do it all.
