On my way to the Lego Store to try and buy a whole box of Disney minifigs. #Pray4Frank

Was tempted to get the Blockade Runner from there but it's double VIP points on the website and in the Birmingham store they give you a 5% discount rather than VIP points, for some reason

Apparently it's real. The reveal is supposedly to be 14th May. I'll snap that up no problem.

Looks good but I won’t buy it.

I am still waiting for more Lego of James Bond and the location set would be awesome to build it.

I doubt they'll release any more James Bond sets, tbh. :(

Yeah but who knows.

For now, I’m happy with my James Bond Aston Martin DB5 on my shelf. :datass:

Lego is shipping my Tantive IV!

Was hoping that it'll arrive on Monday. Then I realise it's a bank holiday. :slol: :(

Hogwarts continues.

I'm on to the last book now, so I reckon I should have it done in the next few weeks (not too far off my original 'Summer' estimate!). I wasn't sure how much they were going to fit in after I finished the main tower, but then they introduced the second base section, which effectively doubles the amount of ground it covers :dread:

I couldn't justify another large build at the moment, but picked up BB-8 and Yoda's Jedi Fighter in the Lego sale, that wee Hoth set was too cool to pass up (plus I've been wanting both of those for a while).

Lime wrote:That's awesome. I wasn't sure about the microscale style when I first saw it, but it looks incredible.

Sorry, Lime, I missed this earlier. Yeah, it really is incredible. The way they've adapted everything to the smaller scale is very clever, can't wait to see what it all looks like when it's finished.

Great pictures! I'm not that familiar with all of the films (I've seen the first few) but I definitely recognise many of the locations.

Meanwhile I am coming to the end of Ninjago City Docks, will post pictures once completed. Some great techniques etc, really enjoyed it but I do think the original Ninjago City is the better of the two, and probably my favourite set to build ever.

Is the Blockade Runner not technically a UCS set? Only just noticed it doesn't appear to have a display stand in any of the pictures :slol:

It's not a UCS set.

It's a massive set, almost felt like a UCS set though. There are websites that can recreate a UCS sticker for display stand.

Only one problem is that it doesn't have any landing gears. :fp: But other than that, it's a brilliant build.

Yeah, it's like a UCS build (and price point) but it isn't an "official" UCS set. Wonder why? Noticed after a bit of googling it's essentially an improved re-release of the Blockade Runner set they did for the 10th anniversary of Lego Star Wars, so I was thinking that might have had something to do with it. Shame they didn't go full anniversary set with the box/instructions, though.

(also, I am *rubbish* at applying stickers to curved surfaces :x none of the red ones are parallel)

The proper UCS Blockade Runner they did back in the day looks so much bigger, too, even though they've got roughly the same number of pieces! :slol:

Definitely going to look into doing a stand for it. The carry handle is so strange! Crazy that you can hold the entire weight of the ship on a single axle.

In other news - The Stranger Things Upside Down set is official!

Yeah, it's perfect. They (and Stranger Things generally) manage to sit astride doing 80s nostalgia both ironically, while also taking it deadly seriously.

It's spot on, IMO.

I particularly like the Sheriff's jeep, they've nailed the design of it (the square wheel arches and the windows). Have they only used 80's pieces for it?

The trick is to burnish down just the centre line of the sticker with your nail, line it up to your eye level and then burnish it down from the centre outward. Or line up the longest edge (not the shortest) and then let lay down. As long as it's parallel to one LONGEST edge it will at least be square, even if your margins arn't perfect.

From professional adhesive stuff expert :datass:

Try lifting and applying with a scalpel edge or similar for a test fit because you won't get any crud or finger oils on it if it's wrong and you need to lift it. Get a swan Morton no3 scalpel and just dull the edge a bit on some wood or stone.

I use tweezers for stickers. Also, I stick the part in question onto a 10x2 plate (or similar) before attempting to put the sticker on so that I don't have to hold the piece itself, as fingers get in the way of lining it up otherwise.

Only put down the littlest edge of the sticker until you're confident it looks right. You should be able to reposition your 'start point' a few times if you fudge it up.

I managed to perfectly position a sticker on an 8x1 tile using this method (possibly the hardest non-curved one I've had to do). At that point I knew I'd graduated from asking my better half to do them!

With sets like Ninjago City & Docks you get a lot of practice....

Got the Stranger Things set.

Makes a change from vehicles only build I’ve done in the past few months. I found that doing buildings are often my favourites. (Ghostbusters HQ, Ninjago City, Ninjago Docks, Joker Mansion, Hogwarts Great Hall (not the huge set. Haven’t got that yet.))
