The angle of that teaser clip was strawberry floating terrifying but that looks brilliant. It's basically the quintessential ingredients of a Mario bros level in a Lego playset with larger than life (as in mini fig scale).

And yeah it'll be a lot of micro controllers and NFC chips interacting, those OLEDs will make it expensive...

The problem with Mario toys as I see it has been, because the video game experience is so much more better and more interactive than a toy they have always seemed a bit pants because these things aren't talking and interacting together like they do in a game, and they're addressing that to make a better more innovative product. Lego and Nintendo are a perfect partnership for this, plus it ads the building element which games like Super Mario Maker have only very recently incorporated.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

Squarely aimed at kids and in keeping with the Nintendo and Lego "play first" ideals, I dont think its for me but I might pick it up just cos its Mario and Lego. Hopefully this follows a similar path to the Minecraft stuff where the intial releases were testers and the bigger better sets followed after.

Yeah I think I'd agree that this isn't for me either, I doubt I'll pick it up unless they release a more traditional set like a Bowser's/Peach's Castle or something along those lines.

I don’t like the look of it at all, it doesn’t look like Lego, I was hoping for Mario minifigures and a Mario world to that standard Lego scale

Finally completed the DC Minifigures series. All of 16 mini figures get!

I wouldn't mind if they do the same for Mario. Doubt it'll happen but you never know!

I wish the LEGO Mario stuff would have been something more. It'd have been amazing to have a Peach's Castle. If it had proved successful, they could have even gone onto do LEGO Mario Kart sets. Can't complain, though. It's being set up more like a toy than regular licenced LEGO series.

Also, looking at these 2020 Star Wars sets, I wish I could get back to collecting.

I think they will do, they made Knex ones which is a much smaller market than Lego, they would be really popular

Lego Mario starter kit is available to pre-order at £49.99. With only 231 pieces then there's a serious premium associated with the Mario figure.

In addition to the above, according the NintendoLife if you pre-order the Mario set from the Lego store then you get a free expansion set which makes it a bit better value. Some other sets have also been announced including a Bowser's Castle at around £90.

I had a bunch of VIP points saved up so put it towards getting this. The free expansion set is now out of stock, according to an email I was sent afterwards, so I don't know what's happening there. Probably just an internal glitch on the Lego side of things as it's still showing on my order.

I tried to move my completed Saturn V to a high bookshelf and it broke apart in my hands. Managed to rebuild it but I had two pieces left over and something is rattling about inside.

Oh dear, it would be best if you split it into three parts then move to a high bookshelf and reassemble them together again.

They've also closed pre-orders for the main set now which is surprising given how long it is until it's launching.

Girlfriend and I bought the Flintstones set and the Dinosaur fossils set to build over Easter, considering all entertainment options are now limited to staying at home.

Is there any better use of the Lego VIP points than just using them for £5 off vouchers? All the vouchers seem to be the same value per point.
