Been using Prolific on and off for a year now and I've earned £207 in total. Not bad at all.

Its a survey site, you do surveys or tasks usually set by universities and get paid for your time

Oh them, I've tried them before. Kept getting kicked out of surveys and no rewards. I decided the time/effort ratio wasn't worth it.

Really how odd, I dont think I've been booted from a single survey so far, I've given up on a few as wording has infuriatingly piss poor but otherwise its been fine.

NatWest reward came through today :toot:

Made the switch to Lloyds. I can't believe they send you a code by freaking POST to properly sign in to the app for the first time. Bloody... snail mail  Will they send me the switch bonus by horse-drawn carriage?!

Best/worst example of this is when government does this - without advising you of that fact - when it's 24hrs until your required submission deadline, or something (Self Assessment and Corporation Tax).

Does it at least arrive by next day delivery or something?

That was the other annoying thing! When they initially said they'd sent the code I had no idea *how* they'd sent it. (Text and email showed no sign of it.) They only spelled it out on a different page to the one which said they'd sent it, and by the time I'd spotted it I was already on the phone in a queue to them  :fp:
This all sounds incredibly ungrateful considering they're gonna be giving me free money  , but the poor communication threw out any thought of me permanently switching to them.

I had some company do that, but they didn't say anywhere how it would arrive, I ended up having to phone them which took bloody ages to then be told "oh yeah it will be by post and it will take up to 5 working days". Honestly dont know how some companies come up with stuff this and go "yeah this is a totally normal way to do this, this is fine"

It just shows how with too many companies good customer service is something they likely follow because someone told them to; they don't have anyone at the top who genuinely cares about delivering good customer service.

No, they send it 2nd class so it's 3-5 days.

I also find the idea of something being "secure" by post incredibly annoying. Anyone can open or intercept post quite easily. They never use a recorded method of delivery. Texts don't randomly end up delivered to the wrong number. An encrypted message cannot be read by anyone other than the intended recipient.

But nah sign this bit of paper here, or we'll send a code exclusively to your address. strawberry floating ridiculous in this age.

How to make £440 from the banks in three months

Bit of faff and the Chase £20 referral scheme has ended but a decent amount of cashback.

Image

I've had my Santander 123 account ("downgraded" to 123 Lite about 2 years ago) since April 2015 and have earned almost 2.4k in combined interest and cashback, with rising interest rates we might actually find some of these current accounts go back to rivalling the 123 account before Santander stripped it back.

Thing is, these schemes have been going for years, and bar Nationwide.....they all have 'must not have been a member since' clauses. It's a shame but understandable. I must have had about £2000 from switching banks over the years (been doing it since about 2015).

As great as free money is, is this sort of thing not just causing more costs to everyone else in interest fees, other fees etc. re-coup this money ?

Its like the switching stuff for insurance that is now sort of coming to an end a bit with GIPP it just caused renewals to go up to recoup the cost of dropping prices to get people in.

Maybe. But like the argument with many thing Capitalism, the smart take advantage.

The not so clued up either don't understand it or are too lazy to bother.

The banks obviously benefit from doing these schemes, otherwise they wouldn't do them.

Take the bonus' for accounts that charge a monthly fee for example. I imagine a large amount of people move to them, and then just forget about the monthly fee, rather than meeting the monthly requirements to get it scraped (usually a deposit of money coming in monthly).

Banks win and rely on the laziness of every day Joe Smith to keep supplying them funds.

Nah, standard bank accounts aren't credit checks unless adding an optional overdraft facility to it. Basically just an ID and Proof of Address check only.

And even a proper credit check has minimal impact, actual damaging stuff is late payments, defaults, CCJs. Credit checks don't even show an accept / decline on the credit report.
