The Curve card is good to have if you own a Garmin watch as it supports Garmin Pay when most UK bank cards don't. It's the reason I got one last year.

1. Add your non-Garmin supporting card to Curve.
2. Add your Curve card to Garmin account.
3. Buy things on your run with your watch and not need to take a card or money with you.

Annoyingly I do Curve through Samsung Pay+ as a Samsung branded curve card and for some reason that isnt supported on Garmin which is annoying.

I've updated the first post with some additions or expiry date changes:

The Curve Card free £14-20 offer has been extended to July 31st! :)

Added KK's You Gov suggestion :)

And also added my own referral if its off interest for Blackcat Card online bank- simply verify ID and receive a cool €20 (around £17-18) in your account for free if of interest :datass:

---

There's also a free £10 cash offer from MoneySupermarket via TopCashBack.co.uk

If you have an account (or don't they are quick to setup) if you sign up for MoneySupermarket's Credit Score checker! I have done this via Topcashback and its been tracked within 24 hours! Nice and easy £10 when it pays out into your bank.

Note you have to be a new customer to Money Supermarkets Credit Score Checker & it just pulls a soft search (no damage to your file). I use Topcashback/Quidco quite a lot and it does bring in a few quid a month, and this is a nice easy no purchase offer! :msgreen:

That tidal thing might be legitimately useful for me seeing as I'm a sole trader and having my personal affairs and business in one personal account is strawberry floating confusing and creates piles of accounting work I don't need, but I'll do some digging whether it's actually usable as a business.

Even if you didn't use the account for a free 75 quid is probably worth it to just close down a month later 8-)

Yeah I'm looking at Starling at the moment that's actually a UK bank with normal support rather than in app messaging only a lots of (admittedly dodgy sounding) reviews for Tide freezing funds so maybe I will open and account with both and see if either are worth dealing with to help separate my affairs.

Still got my main bank to fall back on, totally fine to use that as a sole trader even if it isn't a business account and a pain to sift through bank fees of mostly personal transactions. Saw some guy opened a Tide account then had 500 grand sent to it so they froze it to run checks, strawberry floating hell mate what were you expecting, if you deal with that kind of money use a normal bank

Starling also has no transfer fees, 20p isn't a lot but it's a small difference if you do a lot of money moving.

The ability for Tide to have up to 5 business (so trading names) under one account with separate account number and sort codes for each is pretty interesting.

Thanks guys. I genuinely needed some input

Business banking is no joke for me because some of the horror stories out there could very easily kill a business (although some of those stories follow questionable logic as pouring all of your money into one bank account, or any bank account for that matter, and with no other source of funds, is a pretty silly way to manage your equity for a business without at least a credit card or loan to fall back on), but sitting down with a bank manager at a brick and mortar is not only highly inaccessible to me it's something really don't have the time for. I'll try applying for a sole trader account with both and see what happens and which one I prefer. What I don't like is the idea of messaging through an app (I try to avoid a smartphone if I can excerpt for necessary tasks) to Tide over something like frozen or missing funds and waiting days for a response. Starling seems better in this respect as they haven't farmed out all of their support overseas (you can only request a call back).

Starling have a Web version of this app now too so an do everything on that to avoid the app.

Any contact I have had is via in app messaging that is basically im but doesn't need your to keep it open, more a persistent messenger like WhatsApp I guess.

They are based in London and Southampton for their staff.

They have a load of offers currently on the Nectar app for Sainsbury's Bank (covering credit cards, Electric/Gas, Home and Travel Insurances, Loans and mortgages). They're underwritten by other companies with the Sainsbos branding (Legal & General, nPower). They'll give you a load of Nectar points for signing up, an initial insurance discount, and then double/treble your points on your shop.

I don't know if it's still there, but over the weekend there was an offer in the Nectar app (that runs until the end of July) where for every item sold on eBay they'll give you 300 Nectar points within 90 days.

On track to get about £200 back this year through Nectar. I have my electric/gas through them. They recently swapped it over to nPower but thus far no issues.

I find Nectar to be far more rewarding than Tesco's Clubcard because it's accepted at retailers outside of the Sainsbury's bubble and you can use the money stored on the card when and how you see fit. Tesco send you those vouchers in the post instead, and seem to be best spent on things outside of grocery as their worth increases.

My Nectar card got cancelled without warning because I didn't use it to buy petrol during the last year.

Pretty shitty considering we were in the middle of a pandemic. I'm not going to bother getting a new one.

Another survey company called e.rewards (https://www.e-rewards.co.uk/) that may interest some, though this one I'd say is more geared towards frequent travellers:

Gives you something to do on the plane...

The way you can get invited to this one is through Swagbucks.com and "partner offers" on Nectar.

I'd get off npower. Their underlying systems are terribad. They illegally blocked numerous attempts to move and once took over 6 months to bill us. They are worse than edf and I've not seen much worse reviews then npower even when you consider that people only go on the Internet to complain. It's through schemes like this that they must acquire clients in bulk. They were investigated by the energy ombudsman over the whole endlessly delaying billing problem that for some people lasted a year, so it was impossible to keep track of your spending or what you owed them, and once they'd finally estimated a figure they'd bill you for a ridiculous amount.
