Wow fantastic.

On the future my take is that season 3 is the book of boba felt and Din Djarin’s character arc is done. I hope this is not the case though. My thinking behind this is that season 3 was confirmed for December 2021 and there were heavy rumours a couple of months ago that Pedro Pascal was done with making the mandalorian.

Also a question what happened to the third blue mandalorian? The male one. I thought he survived when they were last seen?

(it's made out of felt).

Rewatched it now the kids are in bed.

The ending is surprisingly sad :(
Also, I was yelling at the TV for Din to hold up Grogu's little silver ball while he was walking away, and for Grogu to force grab it from down the corridor.

.. he'll miss his little silver ball, and it's a memento of Din

Just looked it up, damn she looks good for 57

She's just as stunning now as she was back in the Street Fighter Movie as Chun Li

Anyone else bugged to strawberry floaters with Mando's tache? Shave the strawberry floating thing off mate

Not gonna lie, every time I see his face I'm reminded of Somebody Else's Problem.

Season 3 was confirmed a few days ago to be launching at Christmas next year.

Anyone know why Axe Woves wasn’t in this. I’m sure he survived chapter 11 and left with Bo-katan and koska kryze. Did they mention him and I missed it?

No.

Thoughts on the episode...

Interesting Dark Trooper information - now we know there were two prior generations of Dark Troopers, that these were not the first gen. The earlier models were actual people wearing armor, or exo-armor suits. This is an inversion of the earlier Dark Forces evolution of the Dark Troopers, who began as droids, and only in their third and final incarnation were manned by troopers.

Moff Gideon knew that Bo-Katan would zero in on the bridge looking for him, while Din would head for Grogu. He manipulated Din into their duel, threatening Grogu's life, then just outright slashing at Din with the saber when Din acquiesced right away.

He knew that he would either win and be able to leave (or lead the Dark Troopers to victory), or lose and deny Bo-Katan the rulership of Mandalore. If she wanted to claim it for herself then and there, the boarding party would be critically divided and much more easily dealt with.

The Luke Skywalker segment was weird for me. On the one hand, it was fantastic to watch unfold - I got chills. Luke makes perfect sense as the Jedi to seek Grogu out - he's beginning to establish his Jedi Academy, so is actively looking for pupils. Cal Kestis is MIA, presumably with multiple games to go through before we know where he ends up. Ezra Bridger is also MIA, and probably a focal point of the Ahsoka TV series bring developed now. Mace Windu is presumably still dead, and would make a much better "big bad" for a Boba Fett show. Meanwhile, Ahsoka is on her own journey — not that she considers herself a Jedi anyway (see: the Clone Wars). Neither Cal nor Ezra have nearly the level of audience recognition that Luke does, either.

On the other hand, though, it's pretty annoying that once again everything is connected to the Skywalkers. They could have introduced a new Jedi character, perhaps from Legends - maybe even Kyle Katarn, though that wouldn't have had nearly the impact Luke did, clearly.

Additionally, they had the Darksaber. They could have employed that in just the same way Luke did - they all have the close combat ability to wield it effectively, even if they don't have the Force at their backs like a Jedi. For my money, Luke was amazing, and makes absolutely perfect sense from a storytelling perspective, but watching Din carve up those Dark Troopers, man, that would've been far more satisfying.

On the post credits...

I need clarification from Disney as to whether Mando is becoming the Book of Boba Fett, or if the two are separate shows - both launch next December, which makes it confusing. I think there's too interesting a dynamic with Din and Bo-Katan and the Darksaber to just let them drop.

Moreover, if Fett is a separate entity, will it be a limited series, like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Lando, or will it be a longer running project?

This series is better than the vast majority of the movies.

I did not expect it to be Luke even when I saw the green lightsaber. It was amazing even if the de-ageing was a bit dodgy.

Must admit I thought it was going to be Cal Kestis until I saw the black glove on the right hand.

Pretty awesome job they did too!

I literally strawberry floating cried so hard in this episode holy gooseberry fool what an incredible show. When you saw that ship turn up and the colouring pointed at one thing and one thing alone. I knew exactly who it'd be and I had strawberry floating nerd chills. I hope we're not done with the story of Grogu though, I really hope they get reunited again.

The Dark Troopers were incredible, the imperial transport at the beginning (which I've always loved the design of) was incredible. Literally everything about that episode for me was everything I love about Star Wars. Gideon is a piece of gooseberry fool and I love it. The post credits scene as well was just strawberry floating perfection holy god damn shitballs.

I would love for him to be included in one of the live shows. They've already added in things from the games with operation Cinder being mentioned in the previous episode.

Fallen Order 2 and possibly 3 will happen before Cal features in a show, if he ever does. He might die before getting the live action treatment for all we know. All we know is that he barely survived events 5 years after the founding of the Empire.

Those films whilst being gooseberry fool, have also boxed them into crap story arcs in some respects. Plus the major plot point of the films no longer seems to make any sense with this continuity.

This had everything I've wanted from an actual sequel.

Surely they can involve the sequels somehow? Seems like Gideon’s plan is to help revive/clone the emperor somehow, using the child’s blood and the clone expect to help? Likewise with Grogu being taken away, if they have a time jump of a few more years, the Mandalorian could be contacted to come and take him again when Luke’s new Jedi temple goes down the drain courtesy of Ben Solo? Suppose it depends how many series they want though to how far they take things.

I just don't see the point though. Generally the sequels have been so poorly recieved there doesn't seem to be much money left in that arc. It would be best to switch them to Legends and open up a clean slate again.

They could fudge all this into the same continuity, but it will still run into huge problems and basically have a great big roadblock as they try to move the franchise forward. Better to act now, and leave any future series with a blank page to work on. Otherwise there will always be the question of "how does all this fit into episode 7, 8, 9".

I was just thinking how they could if they wanted to try and bridge the gap between the two, as you said though, if they want to cut as many ties with them as possible then it’d be better to do it sooner rather than later.

They could just ignore the Jedi stuff and just carry on with the other stuff or he could end up with Ahsoka at some point.

The prequels were initially badly received (though I enjoyed them), and much bullying of Lucas ensued, but today they aren't viewed that badly, and you'll find very few who think ill of the Clone Wars. What's good for the prequels can be good for any era - Rebels and Mandalorian prove this further.

Also, the question of "how does this fit in" has been asked many, many times during the creation of every show and film to date. That's how Star Wars works.

And why would you ditch Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill's last Star Wars roles like that, over films that are actually pretty good? That's insane. All this "mAkE tHe SeQuElS LeGeNdS" crap is getting on my tittays - it's not happening, the films are made, move along.

By the sounds of the announcement, Rogue Squadron might be the first Star Wars film to pierce the post-TRoS veil and move the franchise into a new era, and Acolyte is doing the same in the High Republic.

I saw a spoiler from Graeme Swann of all people (ex England cricketer) for the final episode :fp:

Still a great series that got better with pretty much every episode! Will miss not having a new episode to look forward to each week.

I hadn't realised Rogue Squadron was post-Rise of Skywalker! (hadn't even noticed the X-Wing design on the logo wasn't the OT T-65 EDIT: Actually, it might just be the placement of the silhouette lol ignore me). Wonder where they'll go with it in that case. The First Order Remnant? :slol:

I'm not saying it will be, but the announcement makes it sound like it could be post-TRoS. First Order Remnant and the Stormtrooper Rebellion are two avenues I would love to see explored.
