First Moggy says PM is the best prequel. And now you say it's the best (of the prequels or the whole saga?) Either way, what the actual strawberry float?

To be fair, it only inches into that top spot on account of the character interactions being pretty much great throughout, and while I can see the flaws, they don't bother me all that much.

There's great character interactions in all the films, and great action and set-pieces in them all as well, but while plenty of others will always call A New Hope out as being one of the best, I just... never really saw that. Even on a first watch. I felt the stuff on Tatooine dragged a bit too much, and while I understand everything it told me and why it's a slow burn, I still feel it drags on a bit too much. While I wouldn't rate it below the other two prequels - controversial opinion time again - I do put The Force Awakens above it.

IMHO it's better than Prequels #1 and #2 and better than the Disney stuff but worse than Sith, Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
It got the ball rolling in the saga and introduced many of the best characters; the better films built on its foundations.

+1 for The Phantom Menance being the best prequel. It's not amazing but it has some good bits. Average overall whereas Attack of the Clones is dreadful and Revenge of the Sith is laughably bad. It helps that PM doesn't have Hayden Christensen in.

The Hayden Factor is indeed a strong negative for both Clones and Sith.

I'll take pod racing, droid making, accidental fighter pilot little Anni over grumpy, child murdering sand boy Anakin any day of the week.

It’s easily the best of the prequels.

But it is like judging a turd competition. Sure PM doesn’t make you retch like the other two, but it is still a monstrous pile of excrement. ;)

PM's existence is also justified by Star Wars Episode 1 Racer. A super game

[Point 2] Jar Jar as a whole kind of comes under the flaws I recognise but don't bother me. His introduction set out what he was like, there was no real change going to happen here. He's pretty much the oddball goof in the playground who no-one wants to be seen with.

[Point 3] This is... pretty much going deep into things. It's not the surface level stuff you need to looking at. The whole idea of the tax route blockade is showing Palpatine executing his craft, and you never actually hear a word of it being him who started it. But we see other things that Palpatine is influencing, such as Amidala throughout the whole of the Coruscant section, and also manipulating, such as using Maul to draw the Jedi away from Amidala, and whether you know Palpatine and Sidious are one and the same or not, and the concluding line of that whole plot shows the man getting exactly what he wanted.

No Disney+ here until next March...

Guess I'll be pirating the hell out of this then. Nevertheless, I'll be buying the inevitable season blueray box sets.

Phantom Menace had a couple of great bits in the pod racing and the the duel between Darth Maul and Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan. Best bit in Attack of The Clones was when Jango and Obi-Wan were having their small dog fight over Geonois, mainly the noise of the seismic charges :slol:

One thing that bothers me.

Why didn’t Jango fire off another seismic charge just before he flies out of the cave of a floating rock, knowing that Obi Wan will follow him there?

It would be game over there.

But other than that, yeah the Slave 1 space fight is easily the best part of AotC. In fact it’s the only scene that’s good about the film.

Revenge of the Sith I maintain is one of the best in the series. It helps that Hayden Christensen is unlikeable, and it also had a ton of classic Star Wars cheesy dialogue. People rail on Phantom Menace for that and seem to completely excuse the dialogue in the original trilogy.

My Star Wars rankings are TESB>ROTS>ROTJ>ANH>TFA>TPM>AOTC>TLJ

Plot armour for A New Hope, could have always had a pod in the star fighter that let him eject the craft and float down to Geonosis but that wouldn’t have been as good.
