I assume it'll get a DVD/Blu-ray release in a few months' time.

If anyone wants a quality rundown on the Mandalorian people that doesn't spoil anything, I got you:

I doubt any Disney+ stuff will have home releases. The whole point of the service is to kill off dvd/Blu-ray/cinemas and to have 100% of the profits

I'd written more than that but my phone seems to have wiped it all before posting....

Anyway:

My wife would stop going aww at the child.
It was stupidly cute.

I'm a little disappointed that we never even made it two whole episodes before the Force got involved in some way. Not everything in Star Wars has to involve the Jedi/Sith or the Force, especially when you're telling stories about Bounty Hunters and the seedy underbelly of the galaxy.

But I'm really enjoying it so far. Pascal has been great.

My major problem is the baby Yoda having force powers

The point of Yoda was always that it was will, and force of effort that were required to use the force, not overwhelming strength or stature. Yoda was powerful because he had worked at it for centuries, overcoming his physical diminuitiveness to become a master. The baby having innate force powers here throws that all out of the window: Yoda's species is naturally gifted and needs no training to become incredibly powerful.

Loving this so far only issue was that the episode was only 30 minutes long!

(Warning: Post refers to Rise of Skywalker rumours.)
I think the most likely prospect is that it's a clone, created decades ago by Palpatine or even Plagueis, as part of an experiment to see if Force capability could be transferred through the cloning process. This links forward to the Rise of Skywalker, and theories about Rey and the Sith Troopers.

E1 Slow, but setting up the world. My favourite bit was seeing the Jabba pet being spit-roasted whilst his caged friend watched on anxiously!
E2 I'm beginning to get into it!

I have deliberately avoided any Rise of Skywalker rumours, except yours Alvin, but I definitely considered that this series may be setting up some plot points.

Namely, baby Yoda-kind. Perhaps he grows up to have the reincarnated spirit of Yoda, thus explaining how there will be a person somewhere in Rise of Skywalker that will have the reincarnated spirit of the Emperor. Perhaps then Disney don't mind if people pirate the show because it means everyone is up to date with the story in time for the movie. The original characters are too archetypally brilliant for Disney to leave resigned to the history books. Perhaps the Rise of Skywalker refers to Anakin or Darth Vader coming back.

This is my problem with Rey. As soon as baby Yoda started using the force my eyes rolled so far into the back of my head I could see the sawdust.

The new continuity any force user seems to be Yoda level in minutes of unlocking the force. We watched Luke over years and he was still fallible. He didn’t even beat Palpatine. But now every mother strawberry floater in the universe with force powers can be Yoda.

Agreed 100% on the bullshit baby Yoda force powers

It just undercuts the value of so much of what we have already seen. Even wise old Yoda was clearly working his ass off to do the things we saw him do in the original trilogy (and to a certain extent in the prequels), other Jedi/Sith had to train for literal lifetimes to be able to even move relatively small inanimate objects with the force etc. But now we are expected to believe that a literal baby can stop a huge rampaging beast in its tracks using the Force? Get tae strawberry float man!

Worst thing is they could have done something so much more subtle and still achieved the effect of establishing that this creature is in some way force "attuned". Have The Mandalorian struggling in the fight but at a key moment the baby uses the Force to just distract, confuse or some how slightly trip up the creature which gives the Mandalorian the moment he needs to strike a killer blow. He doesn't have to go All Powerful™ from out of nowhere! :fp:

The "baby" is 50 years old, but it's clearly capable (physically and mentally) in ways human babies aren't - it tried to heal the Mandalorian's wounds when they were camped out. That indicates a level of understanding beyond any baby I know of. Also, it walked.

Also, the possibility exists that the baby is Yaddle's. Nobody knows what became of her after she left the Jedi Council - maybe she had an illicit affair with Yoda, or found love with another of their kind. Maybe she survived Order 66. Her whereabouts and fate remain unknown.

If it's hers and Yoda's, that would explain much about the baby's attunement to the Force.

That third episode. 8-)

Definite shades of Clone Wars, in the best way.

Really loving this so far, looking forward to seeing where it goes.
Also nice to see some material taking place between RotJ and Force Awakens.
