Star Wars: The Mandalorian - Disney+.

Probably the weakest of the episodes so far, this week's. The greater plot stuff was cool, but the rest was just CGI nonsense

I've really been enjoying the Mandalorian especially as it is its own thing, obviously it's been setting up a future overarching plot for the future of Star Wars. I just hope the Disney movies' story doesn't dominate this with prequelitis events intended to explain how we got to the events in the Disney sequels. Putting aside the significance of the baby Yoda story, i'm enjoying seeing the adventures of these characters living their ordinary lives.

Yeah, she's a piece of gooseberry fool unfortunately. Her constant refusal to understand/take the piss out of transgender causes is partly the reason Pedro Pascal has he/him in his Twitter username now.

Double unfortunate: Rosario Dawson who's also in this, is also a known transphobe. Not a great look

Season 2 Episode 5. So the music at the end of the episode is from the Return of the Jedi celebrations at the end of the movie, I think. This is a big clue that, I suspect, a de-aged Luke Skywalker will appear at some point!

Not sure if this is true, but I read somewhere recently had Mark Hamill had consented to a de-aged likeness of himself being used recently. I assumed it was a formality for the holiday special.

Episode thoughts:

It was a little odd to see Ahsoka in the flesh, but it was wonderful to see her nonetheless. The voice difference didn't bother me, I mean it's been years since her last appearance, and human voices change with time, so why not a Togruta, too?

The allusion to a hunt for Thrawn took me off guard, but I loved it. Clearly setting things up for that rumored Ahsoka show, if they want to pursue that.

The baby has a name, Grogu, and a backstory! Who hid him away? I suspect that whoever did that might come calling when they sit Grogu down on that mountaintop altar on Typhon, if it isn't a de-aged Luke.

I doubt it will be Luke.

Are you sure about that? Both versions of that celebratory music are really distinct and I certainly didn't hear either.

But yeah, besides the season 1 finale that was probably the show's best ep. Excellent all round

What an episode, loved it!

Got to be Luke or Ezra as the other Jedi? With Thrawn it might lend itself more to Ezra than Luke, seeing Luke in it would be fantastic though!

EPISODE SPOILER

Tbh all I hear is a flute version of the main theme at around 39 minutes. The rest of the flute music is, as far as I can hear, completely new.

There's maybe one couplet at 41 minutes that's similar but two notes does not a theme make.

EDIT: Quick check on Twitter and if the celebration theme is there, you're the only one to have picked up on it!
