That's how you show a Jedi to be a power to be reckoned with! The flourish of the actual star wars music on the "reveal" too was just perfect, especially as I was waiting and hoping for it.
The episode was very predictable in its beats but there was nothing wrong with that! It was quite enjoyable actually to see it unfolding as predicted at each turn
[the plan is laid out]
"Something will go wrong, one or two of those dark troopers will get out"
[a dark trooper gets out]
[Dark troopers get spaced]
"They are droids, they aren't dead"
"Yeah I bet they fly back in"
[Later the dark troopers fly back in]
[Moff Gideon isn't on the bridge]
"Moff Gideon will be with the child, he'll have a knife to his neck"
"Not a knife, the dark saber!"
[door opens, Moff Gideon has the dark saber held over grogu]
[A single x-wing flies past]
"It's gonna be Luke. We'll see a cloaked Jedi take out all the dark troopers"
[We see a cloaked Luke take out all the dark troopers]
"I really hope actual Star Wars music plays when he is revealed"
[Actual Star Wars music plays as Luke's face is revealed]
Nailed it
The CGI face is probably my biggest complaint, like with Rogue One. It's still uncanny valley and it will really age the episode. I don't know why they don't just find some lookalike actors for these cameos. Having Luke cloaked for most it worked well at least. Like in Rogue One where Grand Moff Tarkin is only shown as a reflection and I thought that was both menacing and a neat solution to being CG, but then inexplicably they decide he should turn around and get a full mugshot.
