Why do people keep saying this like it's a bad thing?

I know  how dare they appeal to fans of the show by doing stuff that they may like.

As long as it makes good sense within the established narrative, there's nothing wrong with it. I feel a bit weird about the finale's fan service mostly because deep fake tech is advancing and they could've done a way better job.

Separate show, same production team, sounds like. Can't wait to see what hijinks they get up to, but I would've preferred a general Bounty Hunters show, featuring the likes of Bossk, Aurra Sing, Embo, Beckett, Zuckuss, Dengar, etc. I think that would've been pretty entertaining.

Final episode was great, I loved it

That's how you show a Jedi to be a power to be reckoned with! The flourish of the actual star wars music on the "reveal" too was just perfect, especially as I was waiting and hoping for it.

The episode was very predictable in its beats but there was nothing wrong with that! It was quite enjoyable actually to see it unfolding as predicted at each turn

[the plan is laid out]
"Something will go wrong, one or two of those dark troopers will get out"
[a dark trooper gets out]

[Dark troopers get spaced]
"They are droids, they aren't dead"
"Yeah I bet they fly back in"
[Later the dark troopers fly back in]

[Moff Gideon isn't on the bridge]
"Moff Gideon will be with the child, he'll have a knife to his neck"
"Not a knife, the dark saber!"
[door opens, Moff Gideon has the dark saber held over grogu]

[A single x-wing flies past]
"It's gonna be Luke. We'll see a cloaked Jedi take out all the dark troopers"
[We see a cloaked Luke take out all the dark troopers]
"I really hope actual Star Wars music plays when he is revealed"
[Actual Star Wars music plays as Luke's face is revealed]

Nailed it :datass:

The CGI face is probably my biggest complaint, like with Rogue One. It's still uncanny valley and it will really age the episode. I don't know why they don't just find some lookalike actors for these cameos. Having Luke cloaked for most it worked well at least. Like in Rogue One where Grand Moff Tarkin is only shown as a reflection and I thought that was both menacing and a neat solution to being CG, but then inexplicably they decide he should turn around and get a full mugshot.

They really should have made that clearer when they announced it on Friday.

My hope for season three:

Din comes across Mayfeld again, they have another adventure, then Din adopts Mayfeld as a foundling and now he has a new clan buddy, and Mayfeld has a new family.

Shamook did a quality deep fake for the last episode:

Season 3 is blatantly going to be about the darksaber, and Bo-Katan trying to get it from Din.

Clearly, but Din needs a new Grogu, and Mayfeld would make a good one.

Honestly I don't know where they go in season 3. When Din got the dark sabre I half expected him to say "oh for strawberry float sake, I don't need this gooseberry fool".

I'm still a tad confused if Book of Boba is going to be season 3. I wouldn't mind that, but it would be a huge shame to move direction.

They’ve confirmed Book of Boba is a separate show launching at the same time as Season 3 of the Mandalorian.

In my opinion they seem to be trying to create their own Star Wars version of the Arrowverse.

He would have, had he understood its significance. I'm pretty sure he was thinking it pretty hard during the frustratingly fruitless interchange that was ongoing when the ship's proximity alert pinged.

Now that those events are over, though, it's going to be interesting to see how his priorities shift, how his world changes, all the new conflicts that'll arise, new villains and, hopefully, old ones too.

I half expect season 3 to begin at the exact moment season 2 ended, but the other half of my expectation is a time jump with flashbacks to the season break interim.

I finally got around to watching season one, really enjoyed it. You have to suspend your disbelief a bit and embrace the Star Wars silliness but I didn't find that difficult. Very interested to see where they take the story of baby Yoda!

Yeah it's time her character met an untimely demise.

Edit: ....aaaaaaand she's gone.

It's kinda incredible how stupid and insulting that comparison is.
