Yeah the stealth bits are quite weak in my opinion. I’m definitely nearing the end, gone on for a bit longer than I thought really but still really enjoying it! Might not have chance to finish it off tonight but definitely will do tomorrow.

Also the jump scare mentioned above was the only one I’ve found so far too, seems to go much for the creepy/suspense/tension rather than outright jump scares.

Yeah, some of the later stealth sections are a bit rubbish. I'm not sure that stealth against invisible enemies works, really.

I'm stuck

No idea how to get past the fella just after completing the puzzle behind the locked door in the basement. Trying to be vague to not spoil anything :shifty: If you're there you'll know the bit I mean

think I just ended up goofing it by running around him to hit the switch on the wall  Are you meant to lead him into the little doorway in the spirit world and then just leap back to the real world to give you enough time to run for the switch or have I just skipped like a whole part of the puzzle? :slol:

EDIT: Just finished it and I missed a single collectible (somehow missed a postcard :x ) so I gotta play the whole thing again at some point :slol:

Enjoyed it a lot more than Blair Witch tbf. Shame it doesn't seem like there's much in terms of replayability, though. The Silent Hill games always used to have a stupid number of different possible endings, but I can't see this finishing any other way.

Just did the second chase and yeah, the whole Richardsection was... interesting. Unfortunately it fell into a loooooot of tired old abuse tropes that were rather exhausting to see. Luckily the presentation was effective enough to make it diverting.

I’m currently at the Red House, take it I’m not far off the end?

I’ve got all the spirit shards, obviously won’t know about collectibles or echos on the objects till I’m watching the credits! I’ve tried to get everything but if I’ve not I’ll just be leaving it, while I’ve loved it so far I’ve no incentive to reply right now.

Will be getting this finished off this evening if all goes to plan.

Yeah, that's where I started from this morning so you've got maybe a couple of hours left if that.

Yeah, finished it.

A solid it-was-fine-I-guess/10. Nowhere near the level of Observer, but better than Blair Witch from what I've heard. It looked amazing but the puzzles were largely uninspired and the slow pace of the gameplay, which could have been a boon, actually worked against it. I'd also say it's criminally light for a full price game. A good 25-30 minutes of its 5 hour runtime are cutscenes, with another 3 being walking and the rest spent interacting with the world in any way. It's perfect for Game Pass but not worth £35.

Also, the story has some seriously strawberry floated implications, mainly that abuse and trauma turns its victims into monstrous demons. This is an extremely troubling worldview. Yes there's a trigger warning, but if I was someone who'd experienced abuse playing this I'd be very strawberry floated off.

Just noticed you mentioning Observer. Is that the game starring Rutger Bauer by the Layers of Fear dev? If so, is it worth a look? I've had my eye on it for a while.

Sorry to go slightly off topic. I've been reading people's impressions of this game and I'm almost jealous I'm missing out.

I’m early on in this, just met sadness not long ago. Finding it very slow at the moment.

Having watched the trailers again, just wondering how tense or scary this gets? I loved Until Dawn but had to give up with Resi Evil 7 as that was too much. Is this more towards Until Dawn levels or am I going to end up wussing out at some point?

Just finished it, really enjoyed it on the whole, far from a perfect game but as I said earlier in the thread, thanks to Game Pass it meant I played it for a matter of a few quid rather than spending nearing £40 on it which it just isn’t worth for the length/replay ability of it. Great soundtrack as well, the couple of tracks with vocals towards the end were really nice.

Presume a sequel could be in the works in the future if it’s performed well enough.

Observer is by Bloober Team, the devs of the Medium, and yeah it's very good. They're releasing a next-gen patch soon, so maybe wait till then to get it but it's deffo worth a look.

Personally I enjoyed it much more than this.

Thanks Taf, I'll definitely pick it up when the update releases then. As I say, I've had my eye on it for a while and I trust your judgement.

Edit - Looks like the next gen update is already out? Observer System Redux.

I'm in the Red House. just solved the doll house > 4 butterflies > 3 masks bit and opened up the basement.

Not sure quite how long left but presume not much. However work in 7hrs etc etc so it'll have to wait.

On the whole I've quite enjoyed it. The running has peed me off though - reminds me of an opposition player getting subbed off in the 90th when they're shithousing their way to an undeserved 1 goal win and they do that jog which is seemingly slower than a normal walk as they leave the pitch

Only thing I could think of for the running speed (except at a few points) was when Peter Kay had a joke about dads running when they’re not actually moving any quicker than they would be walking

But yes, you’re not far odd the end at all.

And done. Missed a few collectibles despite feeling I’d walked and inspected everywhere. Ho hum, I’m not gonna replay for the last 4 achievements though.

4/5 for me. Didn’t feel next gen to me but an intruiging premise and decent gameplay.

Glad I got it on GamePass though as no replayability unless you really want the 1000Gs

How long does this game take? Tempted to give it a go, but don't really want to start anything that's too long right now.
