I'm back on the information trail for stuff about Papal Invasion master Juan Martinez de Recalde, as I have to write a 1500 word essay on the guy before close of play tomorrow. If anyone can find anything other than a badly translated Spanish stub on wikipedia and a small but epic piece on him in a different book on google books by Konstam and Gerrard, please please please let me know. :x

Lego

Every now and again I get tempted to buy a massive set from Argos or something, but I never go through with it.

I was back at my old flat picking up post when I checked the storage and found those 2 boxes of lego in there. Just had to bring it home with me. Some of these bricks are as old as me.

This essay is a piece of gooseberry fool. The lecturer actually said, when assigning the people we're doing the biographical essays on, that mine was the hardest one to do, as there are so few sources available, but that he expected the same amount of stuff in mine as from someone doing an obvious source like Francis Drake. :x

What's the aim of the biographical essay, Deadpool? Who did you choose?

I typed a big reply out for this and it got deleted.

Basically I was given a Spanish commander from the Armada, Juan Martinez de Recalde, second in command during the Azores campaign of 1582 and general all round badass. The essay's purpose is to give a biographical account of his life and what he did up until the Armada, but there's no strawberry floating information on him! I drew the short straw, Francis Drake and people like that are part of this exercise, but this guy was known as The Lionheart so I guess it's quite apt that I got him when you consider my old username. What I've found so far translates to just under 900 words, so I should be able to force another 450 out to hit the minimum wordcount, but the lecturer surely isn't expecting a fuckton of information on him, since there isn't that much available. :fp:

So you weren't allowed to choose your own subject to biograph? That's shite.
