Seriously though I saw on the CBC Edmonton has the most murders of any Canadian city, and this year it has ... 32 murders.

Reminds me of when I was talking to someone from the US who was convinced that Canadian cities weren't that much safer than those in the US, and he asked me how many people are killed in Toronto a year, and I just remembered in the worst year ever I think it was about 42. Then he just sort of went "oh, we get about a murder a day in Austin, TX"

Anyways, watching some American Football Live on Channel 4 at the moment... well, I'm watching some men talking about NFL. I don't know if it's started yet. Or if it's half time or something. Or just one of the numerous breaks in play. Or does that only happen during the Super Bowl game?

Someone took me out to dinner (friends family) I am no millionaire.

I went apple picking yesterday, pretty good deal $1/lb, ended up collecting 9lbs with my girlfriend. Then we went to IKEA because she needed to get some new furniture, putting it together was a pain in the butt, but at least got it done in one day.

Well Saw footloose last night, it was pretty funny, although probably not supposed to be. I especially liked the ending where...

The main character gives a heartfelt speech about why dancing should be allowed in the city, and then the city council votes him down. What a twist to the Hollywood standard!

When I was in Eastern Europe it was bagged milk or no milk, you cut too much of a hole in the top and you spill it everywhere when you pour it. Terrible, just terrible.

Why aren't they allowed to dance in the city?

Some kids died after trying to drive home drunk from a party where there was dancing, and so all the adults decided that dancing= drunkenness and therefore did the reasonable thing and banned all dancing, and the playing of loud music. Because that makes loads more sense then just banning alcohol, or educating the children.

So in the end the main character organizes a petition to try and change the law and gives a heart felt speech before city council and they vote him down.

Then someone tells him the towns border is lop sided so he can technically have the dance in the area where he lives while technically being in the next town. Oh but he does at least convince the staunchest opponent to dancing on the city council that it's actually ok.
