What are people constantly burning? You can take garden waste to the tip and it doesn't leave a pile of ash in your garden, let alone pissing others off.

My neighbours downstairs have been banging for *all* of this bank holiday weekend :x .

Bang-bang-scrape-scrape-bang-bang. Constantly!

They're renting the place rather than being owners, so I have no idea how they can be doing so much DIY.

Neighbour continues to shout at her kid. It's not just me being sensitive to it, either; I've bumped into other neighbours - including some from three floors below her - who have all mentioned it. She talks to him like he's a piece of sh!t.

It's upsetting. We think that the relevant authorities are now involved, though, so hopefully one day the kid will get moved to a place with people who'll love him.

The flat below me was sold, and now it's to let. For £1000 a month. It's an ex council flat and definitely not worth that much in rent, even with it being renovated. I also know it had a terrible black mold problem that reoccurs every winter as the old man who lived there before had massive problems with it. I'm not sure of the problem was resolved when it was renovated, but nothing has changed on the outside of the building to stop any penetrative damp, so I hope this was sorted out on the inside for the next tenant.

Also, they definitely won't be warm in winter unless their electric bill is included in their rent. They have storage heaters in there, and they cost so much to have on, its why i dont use mine. I only know all this because someone I know stumbled onto it whilst looking to move and was wondering if i knew anything about it.

Yeah, it seems that rents are getting even crazier. In my flats we've had people paying £1,500 a month excluding bills. Ridiculous pricing for what you're getting but it seems that the home rental market is in such a state that there are always some people who will pay it.

Storage heaters are exclusively intended to work with an economy 7 thermostat & timer / separate night and day time tariff. If you don't have one they should be ripped out and replaced with conventional radiators (electric or water). It's a function of a property like that to have the right controls, but it's not the first time I've heard of places that have storage heaters without the associated way to control them. The people renting it out don't give a strawberry float (or maybe it's the whole or part of the building in managed properties, where it would be pretty trivial the fit the right controls).

We had them a few places ago but the timer kept going out of time so they were turning on during the morning or day. The bills were insane and the energy provider Spark were strawberry floating dreadful in terms of hiking direct debits, my partner barely ever submitted meter readings either. It was maybe 4 or 5 years later when I was still trying to close the debt on the account, ended up getting it written off because they were so incompetent.

Can't be arsed with it - and I remember it all now when thinking about peak/downtime usage of smart energy meters...
