The facts:

> Some neighbours of mine are housed by the council; a young (20s) woman and her young (3?) daughter
> The daughter has not been here for about three months now
> The woman has a range of blokes (of varying ages) visiting her flat at all times of the day and night
> Last night there have been guys arriving/leaving at 23:15, 03;40, 05:15 and 07:20 (that last one arriving with clanking bottles); generally sounding like they're on drink/drugs

I don't really care what is going on but it's so strawberry-floating annoying getting woken up by the noise. I suspect that other people living here are impacted, too; the woman and one guy were laughing/shouting/smoking dope by the main entrance at that 05:15 arrival.

Proto, yeah, I spoke to the guy who bought the flat and he said that he was getting a tenant through the council.

Fresh developments:

I was just walking home and saw three guys who were shouting at each other in the street; I recognised two of them as being some of the people who were at my neighbour's flat during the night. One of them was a big guy who was totally wasted, shouting at the other two whilst standing there shirtless with his trousers and pants hanging off his backside. All of them were carrying beer bottles.

Ten minutes later they're back at my flats, pressing mine and other neighbours door buzzers as my neighbour won't let them in. The big guy is shouting and starts kicking our main door before they all wander off arguing, the big guy yelling and then standing in the middle of the road. It seems that the big guy is my neighbour's former boyfriend and he was saying that he wants to "be allowed to go into his home" (i.e. the girl's flat) .

Right now the big guy has wandered off... and one of the other guys has run back (still with his beer) and the girl has let him into the flat.

Once the scene is clear I'm gonna go downstairs and see what damage has been done to the door. And then pray that they're not all back here again tonight.

...yep, the top panel of glass on the main door has been damaged and there are dirty boot marks on the middle bar of the door.

I took photos of the damage and contacted our flat company. They've then contacted the owner of the flat... sharing my name with him, and now he will undoubtedly share that with the resident and thus her pals.

If they do give you grief after having reported the resident(s) to the owner, I'd get the police involved and just keep escalating it from there until you're shot of them. From what you've described, something big needs to change and I wish I had the answer - all I know is that these degenerates can't be allowed to continue operating as they currently are.

Hey, cheers, guys. I've had these situations before with a small number of residents here (noise / drugs / acting like complete sh!ts) and generally just eased through the official channels until it's eventually resolved. I'm no hard man so I wouldn't be physically confronting them.

Not about being a hard man, Jawa. You're entitled to stand up for yourself and you're not going out of your way to confront them, you've gone through the channels. But if they approach you (they won't) just stand your ground.

Ta, dude. Thankfully nothing untoward has occurred so far. We're seeking to recover the repair costs from the actual owner so we'll see how things pan out.
