My new neighbours were doing their usual door-and-cupboard-and-window-banging routine from 0730 this morning. I genuinely don't know how there are that many things in the flat to slam; it's almost impressive. They had the washing machine going by 0740, too.

I'm struggling a bit with my new neighbours. They're not doing anything "wrong", really; they're not selling drugs or having hookers ply their trade so it's a step up from past neighbours.

But they're *so* strawbin' noisy. The bloke has a voice like a deep foghorn and he pretty much shouts as his normal volume - it's like he's in my own flat. And he seems to have a capability to talk in a stream for hours, barely pausing for breath.

Have you considered just wearing earplugs all the time? I'm not taking the piss btw, I believe those "loop" ones are really popular, and you can buy ones that are supposed to dull low droning noises whilst still allowing face to face chat stuff to be viable.

I don't own any, but I was doing some research on earplugs for sleeping and they seem to do quite a range. They also come in a range of colours so you can wear them as that all important fashion accessory.

I can understand why somebody might have the (very!) occasional bonfire, but how do they have enough stuff to burn to be having fires so often?

They have an absolutely massive garden (and so lots of garden waste) which backs on to this estate, so they can burn their gooseberry fool well away from their own home, and send the smoke over here instead.

Just report them to the council for nuisance behaviour every time they do it. The council will have to do some things if you keep bothering them and being annoying.

If they ignore emails you could try sending up smoke signals.

If there's a large amount of smoke, just call the fire service. Seriously. A visit from the fire service and a warning for incorrect disposal of waste should do the trick.

Just convince yourself that you are calling on behalf of you and your neighbours safety.

The wardrobe has returned...for anyone who doesn't know I have a neighbour above who has a very old fitted wardrobe that has sliding doors. The doors has wheels that slide on the floor and causes a huge noise and vibrations into my flat.

Just went up to speak to my neighbour about it again after not having any major issues for a long time. But she just had a new flatmate move in who has been opening and closing the sliding wardrobe door very fast that it causes a huge noise and rumble in my flat. She's not blame as she doesn't know and was very understanding of the situation when I told her.

To be fair the owner of the flat had mistakenly thought that my new sound proofing ceiling had solved the issue so was quite apologetic this evening when she realised it was still a big issue for me.

The previous flatmate did the same at first but after I spoke to her she would open it very slowly so that it didn't affect me so bad. But she did reveal to me that it looks like the railing has come off or there used to be one there as it doesn't look like it should be rolling on the floor and therefore its broken...where as the owner of the flat never told me it was broken and just said it's very old. So I asked if it can be fixed and that I'd be willing to help in anyway. She is now looking to having it sorted or fixed hopefully.
