The spots are too small for that.

Whilst GR was down this morning there were more neighbour escapades.

Summary:

> I was awoken at 06:20 by a group of people talking outside of the neighbour's flat (the one who had supposedly been kicked out two weeks ago)
> Minutes later they started kicking the door to gain entry
> One of them then drilled/bashed the main lock out of the door and they had broke in
> Contacted our flat management company who contacted the actual owner of the flat
> The owners' letting agents arrived to speak to the neighbour and her "boyfriend". The "boyfriend" was aggressive towards the agents... then asked for "another chance"... and the agents left, with the neighbour now back in the flat
> There has been a constant flow of the neighbour's "friends" to and from the flat in the few hours since she has been back in there

Yes, this is strawberry-floatin' crazy. Seems like nothing is gonna happen about it, though.

:dread:

How is that even allowed? Surely the forced entry alone is a criminal offence.

You would have thought so, Vermilion... but apparently the letting agent has allowed the person to "stay in the flat until the end of Monday". Yep, someone whose "friends" have kicked in the main door, broken into the flat and completely trashed it. I am pleased about the Monday deadline but dreading what may happen between now and then.

Oh, and the owner of the flat has now said that he is not going to pay for the repairs to the main door as we can't provide him with proof that these people did the damage - and that the person currently living there shouldn't pay it because she has been "victimised". Seriously. What a strawberry-split.

Sounds like the landlord is almost as much of a dick as the tenant squatters.

Perhaps take solace in the fact that the landlord is going to have greater repairs than the main door to worry about after the weekend.

I think he is, Vermi! I saw him once, soon after he bought the place - and I don't believe he has ever stepped foot here since.

I can't quite get my head around how they've let this person - who has demolished the flat inside, caused damage to the wider property, and then broken into the flat after being kicked out - to stay for a further three days. Genuinely gobsmacking.

I'd *love* that to be the case, Drum, but the owner employed a lettings agency on a contract that included restoring the property in the event of it being damaged. So he won't lose a penny himself; and the rest of us residents have to pay out for the repairs to the main door ourselves.

Goddamn, it sounds like there's no justice for any of you within that flat. Hopefully things can get better there.

Some of you should just bandy together and say you saw these people damage the door.

Thanks, Rula - it has been a rough few weeks in that respect. Cheers, dude.

Drumstick wrote:Some of you should just bandy together and say you saw these people damage the door.

It'd be good, Drum, but - alas! - I'm pretty sure that anyone who says they saw the perpetrators would be a target for payback.

I've decided that I'm gonna stay at home from now until now until the end of Monday as I'm worried that the oafs may break into my flat if they think that I'm out. After all, they've got away with everything so far and they'll (hopefully) be gone after Monday. I'll then probably talk to the other residents about getting a replacement lock put on the main door, to stop anyone coming back. Which'll be more cost, of course.

Just what the strawberry float. Break in to a flat and are left to stay for the weekend?! The strawberry float is that about?

3 days is probably just the police response time

If you have to collectively fork out for the main door repair, perhaps it's worth getting a camera installed

Strawb, strawb, strawb. One of her guys is out on the landing area loudly saying that "doesn't like snitches" and "he hates grasses". Not that I've been one, really, but he obviously thinks I have.

Dunno how I'm gonna get through the next few days.

Staying inside is definitely a good idea. For extra insurance, get a camera pointed at your door. Just in case.
