I called out a business for craft etc sellers on Instagram (I like to balance the scales when I'm served a sponsored ad from a business I know is terrible, if you advertise to me then I can advertise to you how awful you are
) that is pretty much a scam and sometime told me to "stop spamming the comments with hate". It's a sponsored advert you moron, it's not legitimate content, the comments are just attached to harvest leads
No idea why someone random would defend a bad business like that. Then again it was a profile full of poor furry art and "censored" something or other which is, well different.
This business had a complaint upheld by the ASA, basically they constantly misrepresent and lie about their site visitor figures to represent it as a great place to sell. They only seem to advertise to sellers, then run the same ads ("finally a UK alternative to etsy") to get more sellers
. Trouble is their site is gooseberry fool, literally the default WordPress woocommerce theme that anyone could set up. PayPal won't support them so they breach the T&Cs of another payment processor Stripe by making sellers sign up for their own stripe gateways. This is not how stripe is designed to work and eventually sellers will have all their funds frozen, effectively killing their businesses (if they sell anything at all which by most reports I've seen is not a lot).
The company is run by our person, a business administration graduate who's figured out predatory "sideswipe" or "negative selling" business models and they just sit on the cash from the seller subs and market to more sellers to keep the cash rolling in. They have a private selling group on Facebook where sellers advertise to... Other sellers in the group? Sound familiar? Yeah it's circular selling / multi tier marketing if not a ponzi scheme.
You can pretty safely know something is a scam if the business censors and deletes any and all criticism. I don't know how they're still running. gooseberry fool like that annoys me but perhaps what's more annoying are the plebs that cluelessly defend such businesses or brands. That's stupid and weird but exactly the kind of person dodgy businesses will happily take a monthly payment from. You only need a few people to put their faith in a bad service or idea specially if you don't actually make any investment in that product/service and just live off the proceeds. Scum the lot of them!I called out a business for craft etc sellers on Instagram (I like to balance the scales when I'm served a sponsored ad from a business I know is terrible, if you advertise to me then I can advertise to you how awful you are
