Clearly no one took any notice of my suggestion in the hat feedback thread either.

Our neighbour has delightfully acquired some horribly loud clunky windchimes that are closer to our windows than theirs. What a lovely thoughtful thing to do!

Bike split is at it again. I was walking the dog the other morning and on the way back I could hear his bike from 2 streets away :|

We've got similar with the son of the guy living above us, who has some sort of flash sports car and gets up early and runs it for ages before suddenly blasting off up the street with a screech of tyres. What I don't get is why someone with what I assume is a massively expensive car lives in a two bed flat with his dad. The basic flats around here, in the nice bit of town, are like £550 a month for a two bed, he must be able to find something he can afford alone on whatever wage sustains car repayments like that.

You should let Staydead know, he loves hearing hooligans revving their engines.

He might just be spending what he saves on rent, on the car.

Reading through some of this thread it seems a lot of people lack common sense!!
My flatmate seems to lol. It doesn't annoy me at all but I just ask why...? Here are some examples:
1) He only has a single set of bedding so spends all day washing and many hours drying them which takes ages cos the washer dryer is slow at drying. I guess like all washer dryers. Sometimes he can't go to sleep at his normal time because he's waiting for them to dry! Just buy additional sets man!
2) Doesn't open windows to ventilate his room...what is that about? No fresh air, thank god I live here as I ensure all the other rooms are well ventilated and healthy!

Degenerate Neighbour Bloke's dad has shown up this morning, i always know it's him as a bloody great white van shows up, followed by hammering and various other DIY noises.

Wanker.

That's some pretty hardcore wanking if you need to get the DIY tools out. :datass:

Also never thought of masturbation as a "father and son" type activity before. :dread:

All i can hear right now is 'tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap...'

Why would anyone ever need to use a hammer THAT much?

We've met our new neighbours this week (haven't properly moved into new house yet) and they are an elderly couple who couldn't possibly be nicer, having gone out of their way to help us a lot already

Why would anyone ever need to use a hammer THAT much?

People who don't know how to use a hammer. And think it's cool to refuse to invest in a basic combi driver and use screws.

People hold a hammer at the very end of the handle, and miss constantly. People also hold a hammer near the head, and tap, tap, tap, tap, tap away with almost no force at all, which achieves nothing, as there's no drive. You are suppose to hold a hammer in the middle, at the fulcrum point with the handle balancing in your index finger, and swing at the wrist to set the nail between two fingers. Then, hold it a bit further back and swing with the arm onto the nail. If you look at the head of the nail, you won't miss it.

Or even worse, they simply move the hammer up and down with their entire body.

They also use the wrong hammer.

The problem is they aren't transferring energy from their arm into the hammer's head, which is literally the whole point of a hammer. The hammer isn't driving the nail, the person using it is. They're just repeatedly flopping their wrist which does absolutely strawberry float all.

You should be able to set any nail with two strikes. 3 or 4 maximum (for a long nail, or a light hammer). That doesn't require you to be strong, it requires using a hammer as it was designed. Unfortunately, nobody gets taught how to use a hammer, or what different hammers are for.

People set pin nails with a 9 or 12Oz clawhammer for example, or use a 6Oz hammer to set a framing nail, etc. Or they use a sledgehammer or a rear end of pickaxe or the butt of a screwdriver and all kinds of stupid gooseberry fool.

https://www.artofmanliness.com/articles ... -a-hammer/

Oh, people also use gooseberry fool nails from hardware stores that don't have a point and so are never going to set in anyway, or bend, so they keep switching them out and doing the same job 3 or 4 times. If iron is soft, it's soft, hitting it harder or faster or trying again isn't going to change anything.

There's a few other things they could be doing, like setting tiles into grout, but that should be done with a mallet anyway and just one strike will do it. But again, people don't know how to use a hammer.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

Hey it's nearly midnight in the middle of the working week, I know what's a fun thing to do - continually rev my engine really loudly over and over as I fail to drive my car up onto a recovery truck! :x

Even worse is that should be being winched up on to the back of that.

There's a couple of people who nearly every night, arrive nearly outside my house in a taxi (I'm assuming they work late shifts or something), and when they get out it's like FULL VOLUME WELSH SHOUTING UP TO 11 TO EACH OTHER OK WE'RE GOING TO STAND HERE AND TALK FOR 10 MINUTES NOW AND THEN I'LL SHOUT BY TO THE TAXI AS IT LEAVES SEE YOU TOMORROW BUTT AND THEN I'LL SHOUT TO YOU AS I GO IN TO MY HOUSE ACROSS THE STREET AND THEN SLAM MY DOOR WHILE I'M AT IT AH YA RIGHT THERE BUTT SEE YOU TOMORROW TO BE HONEST INNIT.

This is at about 11.30.
