I guess this means you'll be disappointed, haven't seen him at all today, not even a brief glimpse, even the garage is closed.

The garage is closed as he is building something spectacular. A custom VW snowmobile? A sled for snowgran to be pulled along on? A giant ice sculpture for the garden?

You need to investigate what he is up to in there.

That’s your trouble, you only think of yourself.

Get over there now and tell us what he is up to! He might have made the worlds greatest snowman just out of your sight and we would never know about it.

It is now officially (by the Balladeer-standing-outside-and-not-shivering metric) Spring.

Stool Bloke has to be out in shorts soon, surely?

Quite a bit has happened on the neighbour front over the past few weeks.

> Neighbour-bloke and family have moved out. We experienced both vandalism and early-hours partying in the week before they went, but they've gone. I can't quite believe it; it hasn't sunk in yet.

> The... uhm... collective of young people that moved in two levels down have been involved in dope smoking, rubbish dropping (they dump their rubbish anywhere; often leaving it in the hallway and electrical cupboard :fp: ), loud music, shouting in the hallway and, earlier this week, kicking in their own front door. The police were called but no action was taken.

I'm pretty much ecstatic about the first part; not quite as delighted about the second.

You really need to move Jawa.

I've just started playing Constructor and your post is like a real life version of that!

Hope it all settles down

Let him enjoy his lack of upstairs neighbours for a bit first. Must be blissful.

Thanks, guys! My downstairs neighbours moving out has been transformative; I hadn't really realised how bad things had got but basically I was hardly ever sitting in my living room in the evenings due to their music / tv / shouting. This past week, I feel like I've got my living space back.

If you're reading this and you're fortunate enough to be sitting in a room in your home without any neighbour disturbance... that's tremendous, as it's a lovely position to be in :-).

That's good news Jawa, neighbours are annoying when they are decent people, it must be absolutely horrendous when they are selfish arseholes.

Our downstairs neighbour runs a tumble dryer 2-3 hours a day and it drones through the entirety of our flat. I've had it out with them and they have 3 kids so they have to use it. It doesnt help that our flats seem to have been thrown up and so the walls are paper thin.

I know exactly how you feel sitting in different rooms to avoid noises. They generally dont use it after 7 at night but its a real trigger for me and it pisses me off far more than it has any right to.

tldr: i think im autistic

Cheers, chaps - appreciate it. It now sounds like the flat is currently being spruced up so I guess someone will be moving in shortly.

Prototype, yeah, I think that most buildings of "recent" (past forty years) times tend to have thin walls and floors; mainly to cut back on cost and improve profitability. Neighbour noise can become a big issue and I can see how that droning machine could quickly become annoying. When such noise is loud and frequent, people tend to be on edge in "anticipation" of it starting and this can be a real detriment to quality of life. I guess in your case a small positive is that it doesn't often take place after 7pm.
