Yeah I'm getting worried about Stool Bloke, he's too quiet and that is never a good thing!

We've been in our new house for three weeks now and I have yet to see anything odd, suspicious, disturbing, or annoying from our new neighbours.

Either we've lucked out or this is just the calm before the storm...

Believe it or not places with entirely good neighbours do exist.

Our neighbours on all sides are lovely, it's just daft gooseberry fool they do that bothers me rather than the cunty stuff like having an all night full volume party that the previous neighbours had (we had to sleep with earplugs in).

Every time we go nextdoor to collect a parcel (other house is empty as up for sale) the neighbours are sitting in the dark either playing games or watching people streaming games on their big TV. Haven't figured out whether they work or are just classic nerds however, so there's an extremely low likelihood of them ever complaining about something due to a lack of social skills

On bonfire night when a lot of businesses board up their windows (because they're huge and because of the crowds), they boarded up theirs also . I'm not sure they are compatible with outside so at least we have something in common.

Only incident of any noise at all in the past year was a hipster guy off work in the house that's now empty, building furniture with what seemed to be a hammer only. Just banging, no sawing at all.. Only banging. It was weird. Then when they were served notice they left 4 pallets outside (2 of which I took and broke down myself).

There's also an old guy a few doors down who seems to randomly open his door, stare across the street to where he normally parks his car, look left and right a bit and then close the door. Apparently he does this every few days

And I've mentioned the bus stop on my doorstep. The worst thing has been a guy who hacks up and spits on our pavement constantly while waiting, you can hear him from our sofa.

Chinese bloke isn't really a nightmare, it's just odd behaviour really. The drilling isn't for very long (about 5 minutes or so once a day for the past 4 months) and a bit of banging straight after. He's a really nice guy and his wife is so sweet. Considering they have a 9 month old (shes so adorable and tiny!) that you hardly ever hear cry whatsoever, I could have had a lot worse living above me.

It's the old git downstairs which is this places problem. He hasn't been much of a dick the past few months though.

Sounds like he just has a small hobby workshop, it's probably not actually a drill unless you can hear it in the wall but some other type of spindle? Like a drill press, router, or muli-tool/cutter. Then possibly nailing parts together, or malleting dovetail/mortise&tenor joints into place. Or just using screws so a drill also.

That or I'm a lot more creative than I give myself credit for, and am projecting my constant thirst for making gooseberry fool on the rest of society. A real pain.

The suburbs of south-east London. Housing is pretty expensive... but it's a noisy, busy, dirty place that houses plenty of sweary, aggressive people.

Fake edit: Why the strawberry-float do I have so many odd neighbours? A girl moved out months ago and yet, a few times every week, she drives back into the (private) car park and meets this guy who also drives in. They are there for a while, swap stuff in bags and then both drove off again. And the guy *always* leaves a Costa coffee cup laying in the car park.*

It normally sounds like it's in the wall, but every loud noise echoes through the building so he could just be making things. Every time the neighbour/conspiracy theorist across from me opens his front door you can hear it throughout my flat. It sounds like the drum start from the opening of eastenders. His is the only door that does it in the building, it took me months to figure out what the sound was when I first moved in!

It's been quite a week for the "young neighbours" over the past fortnight. Weed / karaoke / rubbish and smashed beer bottles / police called / a little yapping dog that is allowed to run free around the site and in the main road / smoking / pregnancy / endless visiting thugs.

They're so full of life ...

How do you know they have had a pregnancy?

I know it sounds like I'm being incredibly judgmental but, honestly, its like they're made-up characters from a TV series.

Either you are just very unlucky Jawa or you really need to move to a better area!

I wish they did!

Update: The flat leaseholder has had a court eviction notice served on the "problematic" neighbours. This may take a little time to complete but it's a pathway to a better situation :-) .

Oh nice! It probably will take a while, so don't get your hopes too high, but it sounds like it could have a great conclusion!
