Essentially we live in two-bed flats built in the 1930s. They're purpose built but look like standard 30s semis - there are four flats in each, two up, two down. They're spacious but poorly soundproofed and not in the best state of repair.

Upstairs from me live Steve (the dad) and Calvin (the son, in his mid-late 20s, I would guess). Steve works in sales and spends most of his day loudly on the phone in their flat. He plays Queen, Oasis, and bad crooner type music on repeat for hours, occasionally interspersed with sad heartbreak songs that make me worry for his state of mind (he's divorced). Calvin works in construction and drives a ridiculous BMW sports car type thing (but lives with his dad?) that he sits in and revs obnoxiously, but then doesn't go anywhere. Eventually he gets out and goes back upstairs. He's a moron. He has terrible taste in music and often plays one song over and over.

The only good, and unsurprising, thing is neither of them are getting any sex. We would know.

Stool Bloke has a challenger for most iconic neighbour. Just need pictures of him to seal the deal. (Preferably without something up his bottom.)

A lot of clapping and cheering on my street.

Ultimately a nice gesture by the British public, and one that was very well received among those I know who work for the NHS.

I forgo that the clapping thing was happening until this morning. Don't remember hearing anything last night so either I just wasn't paying attention or everyone round our way is an uncaring arsehole.

It's probably the latter.

Bike bloke has moved his bike from the front of his house to the road, and is washing all of his cars and his bike. The road and pavement is soaked, and anyone attempting to keep some distance while walking past is going to have to navigate his gooseberry fool, and him.

DIY split is also making a shitload of noise in the garden. Cement mixer, angle grinder, hammering, sawing. Of course the peak of this is lunch time when we have our half an hour in the garden.

DIY split at it again with what sounds like a chain saw in the back garden.

Degenerate Neighbour Bloke is being a complete dick at the moment, he's been playing loud rap music non stop for days on end now, and for some reason, Notorious BIG: Nasty Girl from 2006 which he has played at least 6 times today.

Discovered the source of the noise today, the guy has plonked an Alexa right next to his open front window.

I therefore decided to try something, and when he was out in his back garden uncovering his barbecue, i leaned out my window and said 'Alexa, play Surfin Bird' and to my surprise, it did (i really wasn't expecting it to respond to me).

Then i heard him go back inside, cue his inevitable confusion over hearing Peter Griffin's favourite song blaring out of the speaker.
