Whats everyones experience lviing in flats? We're next to a family of 5 and can hear everything. Banging doors, shouting, etc

We live in a first floor flat in a 2 story building and you really can hear every bump and bang from upstairs. And downstairs.
The old git downstairs loves shouting at his phone, at anyone who visits the building (even people working on the building) and at his TV. He's also extremely nosy, and you can tell when he's in the hallway or has been, his flat stinks of damp and it wavers into the hallway when he opens his front door.
Upstairs from us we have a small Chinese family who are absolutely lovely, but they can make a lot of noise from time to time. I don't think it can be helped though, they have a toddler. They live across the way from biker guy who doesn't make any noise at all, just like the 2 guys who have taken over the mad ladies flat across from old git.

Across from us is crazy Ed. He speaks utter gibberish to himself, has crazy conspiracies about the others in the building, leaves notes on the stairwell with just the old git and the biker guys names on and shakes his front door like mad when he opens and closes it. You can tell when he's in the hallway because of all the racket he makes.

I hadn't lived in a flat before I got this one 2 years ago and it's quieter than I actually expected. (I thought I'd be able to hear Tv's blaring or loud music from other flats) Except for the people outside at 1am from another building on the estate. No idea why they have to shout all the time, especially when they're walking right next to each other.

strawberry floating wasps. There's a nest in the ceiling above one of the kids rooms. Jawa did promise to come and deal with it, but hasn't. I had to get someone out and he dosed the strawberry floaters yesterday, still going strong they are. Oh, and that's after another dose of gooseberry fool today. banana splits.
