We sometimes have a problem with people parking in our parking spaces, leaving me nowhere handy to park. So, the last time they did it, i parked across their driveway and strawberry floated off for the day. Nearly came to blows when i got back. banana split. Anyway, that stopped the parking in my space for a few years.

When we used to live at the flat, we had a single parking space allocated (with our number marked on it). My wife used to park her company car out on the road and I used to park the Celica in the space. Almost every day is get back from work having driven for a couple of hours to find some banana split had parked there. Then I'd have to ring around every flat to find out who it was. The attitude on some of them when I'd ask them to move, like I was in the wrong! One of them used to let his Mrs park in our space, and her reasoning was she didn't want to park out on the road and they only have the one space She'd always huff and tut when moving her car to the road for the umpteenth time.

Used to hate the parking situation when we lived in our flat, everyone had one reserved space but so many people would just park wherever they liked.

Just as bad was when we used to live on a really busy, narrow street - there was no off-road parking so the whole road was just lined on both sides with people's cars leaving only a tiny space to get through the middle. It was basically pot-luck whether you would come home and find anywhere near the house to park or would need to go several streets away, and even when there was a space the road and gaps were so narrow that unless your parallel parking skills were really on point then you were in trouble. I was fine ( ) but the wife could not cope!

As a result parking was one of the top priority items on our wish list for our last house move - not getting a quiet road with our own driveway was basically a deal breaker for the wife!

Every flat I've lived in (6 in total) has had allocated parking with parking management run by a private company who will come out and clamp people for parking in your spot. Obviously it doesn't solve the problem on the day but it stops repeat offenders.

My house is on a shared driveway, though it's a semi-circle one that joins the road at both ends, and the houses on it each have their own private driveway leading off the shared drive as it goes around. Today though there was a car parked on the part of the shared drive right infront of my house which ended up blocking me from reversing out of my driveway in that direction. If I reverse out the other direction then because of the width of the shared drive I'd end up having to drive across part of my front garden to get around it. Fortunately me neighbour's private drive, which is next to mine and doesn't have a dividing barrier, was empty so I was able to use their drive to shuffle back and forth a bit until I could get out.

I assumed the car belonged to my immediate neighbour on the other side, whos house is the one at the end of the share drive, but when I knocked in order to ask that the car be moved nobody was in and their (double car length) private drive was empty, so all I could do was leave a note on the windscreen of the car asking the driver not to park there as it obstructed access to the private driveways.

This afternoon though my brother had come round and we were infront of my house talking and as we were complaining about the car the woman from the other side of my neighbour noticed and called out "Oh, I can move it for you if you want". This womans house isn't even on the shared drive, she just decided the shared drive was a better place to park her car than her own (double car length) driveway because that way she didn't have to either reverse onto or off her drive directly onto the road. When she came to move it I did ask her not to park there again as she was blocking my driveway, which she gave a mumbled apology for.
But what a bitch, parking on a shared drive that doesn't even link to her house. Her private drive is between her house and the shared driveway as well so it's not like her car is closer. It's purely for either her convenience or she's just so gooseberry fool at driving she can't reverse directly between a driveway and the road.

If she parks there again, whether I need to get out or not, I'll be going to ask her to move it. And I'll point out that despite being a shared drive it's still private property. My land registry deeds show my property actually extends right across the shared drive, I just need to keep it open for access (so I can't do something like put a gate across it) but ultimately it's still private land and her parking on it is no different from if she parked on my private drive or my garden.

What also gets me is that they've got a second car that is also never parked on their driveway, but is instead always parked on the pavement infront of their house.

Well, the fat cow at No.5 is guilty of many things, her kids are feral yobs who trample all over my garden, she once used one of those bin shaped incinerators to smoke out the entire street, and i once heard her calling my family The Addams Family.

The unforgivable stunt she pulled though was just after my dad died, you see, we had to sell his car, it was taken away to a dealer several towns away, and we assumed we'd not see it again. Then, just a few weeks later, i looked out my window and saw dad's car parked right in the middle of my street. The occupants were relatives of the fat cow at No.5, and i ask you, what are the odds of selling a car to a dealer in another town, only for it to return to the very street it originated from shortly after? No, fat cow had been keeping an eye on the car all the time that dad was sick, and it was now suddenly parked outside my house so she and her scummy relations could rub it in our faces, mum was so distressed, she actually walked up to it and started touching the thing because she couldn't believe it was really there.

I've never forgiven her for that, it was beneath contempt.

Hang on. So, your neighbour forced her relatives to buy your dad's old car, from several towns away? In the knowledge that the relatives would be parking it in your view once every blue moon? Hmmm, it's an incredible coincidence or she really hates you.
