About time I caught up with this thread. We have a new neighbour renting but must be first time as they've breached etiquette a few times already. One, my neighbour, one of my customers, mentioned a parcel had been left there but they never respond to the door to give it back. Now I have accepted a parcel for the new neighbour which has been here for a few days, and I'm not expecting them to actually want it either.

But more annoyingly, we have a wheelie bin for recycling. If you have a house with a certain number of occupants or something like that, you can also get a wheelie bin for black bag waste (the argument being otherwise it just piles up in the bin and goes rotten). Well the new neighbour seems to have assumed you just leave these bins in front of your house like on an estate or coldesac or whatever with front gardens, the thing is we are directly on a main road so the property ends at the doorstep. You are meant to take them in and keep them in the garden, and take them out for collections only. Literally every other house on the street knows this and they go out for collections and that's it. But this bin has been there for a month. So is everyone supposed to smell this bin every time they come to their door or walk by while people waiting for the bus throw random gooseberry fool like kebabs and chips and fags in it (btw someone recently threw up on our doorstep, bits and all, waiting, which was lovely)? It's not a strawberry floating private landfill box you just leave out your front door, it's an ugly obstruction and it stinks. I know the council doesn't allow it.

Will probably have to mention it or leave a note at some point, probably when they collect their package, but can't be arsed with confronting something so basic.

I already left a letter hand written with nice stationary and my business card, introducing myself and welcoming them to the town with a town guide attached, mentioning the neighbour who was trying to collect their package.

They might have anxiety or have no experience renting or whatever, but c'mon, this is basic stuff. Either that, or they're not really living there. I think I know the estate agent so eventually I'll just write to them as that way it's anonymous and I don't have to deal with animosity.

The plus side is they probably won't complain about noise, even though my workshop is underground and my machinery is quiete or in a noise cancelling enclosure.

I probably wouldn't care if they were putting bins in it for collection, but they're leaving rotting black bag waste for the weeks in between, which is the same thing as piling black bags out on the street, which we all know some people produce a staggering amount of waste for their household.

 they had the audacity or plain cluelessness or shove it next to our door, I wheeled it a couple feet away so it wasn't literally smelling up my doorway, but I could go further than that.

To be fair, if it simply disappears, the council will probably replace it. So by getting rid of it temporarily and requiring them to request a new one, which they'll never figure out to do, could solve the problem as they can't use it as an on street dump

For example there is a recently refurbished building which has been converted into loads of annexed properties with their own doors etc, and as it was a community building it has lots of Tarmac'd area. Putting it there wouldn't bother anyone. This is like 10 feet away from any door ways etc and there's also a massive commercial property, an old garage, that has nothing going on to put it.

Anyone who leaves a bin out for like a microsecond beyond collection time gets a load of warning stickers shoved on it from the council with a threat of a fine if they do it again. A bit Draconian but it works!

Chances are there's a form I can acufally use to report bin crimes, I'll take a look.

Happy to ignore that kind of thing for ages, don't get me wrong, but it's annoying when you consider the effort 50 other town houses on the same street go to keep the streets clean, every week for years.

Okay so deliberately leave your bin out, get a warning sticker, send it in the post to Gecko, then Gecko can put it on the problem bin

I had to get salty with the council because we had one of these stickers once despite the bins being on our property. Had to get my Land Registry records on their asses to prove that the bit of pavement in question belonged to me!

I hadn't actually intended to leave the bonus where they were and always put them in the back garden usually but it was a matter of principle by this point!

If I've not seen my neighbors for a 3-4 weeks, I should assume they've moved (there's not for sale/for rent signs etc) and not worry about the likely dead and rotting body inside the house and call the police....

Right?

Report back ASAP. Lift the letter box and take a big sniff too. For the bodies, like.

Make sure you announce yourself loudly through the letter box before hand. "I'm just checking to make sure you're not dead!" then take a massive, audible sniff.

If you don't and they catch you they'll think you're some kind of weirdo.

The amount of Christmas decorations not only still on the outside of houses around here, but still switched on :dread:

I can appreciate taking that gooseberry fool off the front of your house can take time, but if you can't take them down just yet, at least don't switch them on. It's nearly Easter ffs!

Oh and of course bin bint is amongst the culprits.

If bin bint can't be arsed to move her bin back to the right place without assistance then I'm not surprised she leaves Christmas decorations up for longer than expected!

There are loads around our way that are still up and on. :dread:

It's great in December folks but come this time of year it's just a bit depressing!

Talking of annoying Christmas decorations not being taken down, why is the forum still covered in Santa hats?

Just quit your job and go around sticking hats on top of things, life is a piece of piss once you work out the cheat codes.
