You're well unlucky with that tumble dryer Vermy, there's one in the room next to me and I can't hear it when it's on.

Our fat old neighbour is getting a hot tub. The houses and gardens on our small cul de sac do not really support the hot tub lifestyle.

It looks like a couple moved into the house which we share a wall with whether they are here permanently or air bnbing for a bit I don't know as they just rocked up with 4 suitcases. They play music which can be heard through the wall. It's not massively loud and it's mostly drowned out whilst watching TV (I can hear it now with the football on if I listen out for it) etc though it is quite noticeable if we're just in silence, it's usually played in bursts from mid-afternoon onwards. It doesn't really bother me but my girlfriend thinks it's really inconsiderate and are awful people, I think it's just a problem with terraced housing and remember in my old flat if I was in silence I could hear the TV from next door.

She wants to put a letter through the door asking them to turn it down, but I think that's a bit arsey but not sure whether I just have more tolerance for noise/less desire for confrontation.

So I was woken up this morning by their music (8:15), and I could properly here it, not sure kind of mumours through the wall but actual music and lyrics and could hear it even when in the bathroom which doesn't back into their house.

I went to ask them to turn it turn down and they said they would. Time will tell.

Edit: Entirely possible they were being considerate and wanted to get me up in time to watch more of the cricket.

The old woman who lives next door to Costa Woman, has got her daughter spending the night round there and is going to spend the rest of the weekend too. Thing is she lives in London and it's like 100 miles away, I'm sure bubbles don't extend that far.

Getting utterly sick to death of sofa bloke now, can't even go to town without having him watch me leave/enter the damn street. It wouldn't be so bad were it only an occasional thing, but now it seems to be every damn day!

He has a living room, yet now, thanks to the bloody sofa, my house (and everyone elses) is his damn front room now.

I also have a headache thanks to the constant whirring of the tumble dryer, i mean ffs, it's amazing the murder rate in this country is as low as it is.

Show him all the pictures/the gnome, he'll probably leave you very well alone then.

How often does the dryer run?

My downstairs neighbour is at least 3 hours a day

Does he just sit in the garden and watch the street or something?

Pretty much, earlier today the town street sweeper (a new vehicle which was named in a poll as Basil Brushes after it was deemed that the name Sweepy McSweepface lacked originality) came down here, it turned the corner, spotted sofa bloke, and then did a u turn faster than a government minister before zooming off as fast as possible (and thus the rest of the street remains unswept).

Just had a heavy shower though, which made me laugh as the sofa is now wet.

Sofa bloke

He sounds like such a busy body twat. When I was in my early teens, there was this nosey old bag who we nicknamed nosey bitch, who used to just sit in her window and watch us play in the park all day, then bang on the window if we made any noise.

Surely that's going to become mouldy and gross in pretty short order?

I wonder if it's from a generation of people who had "you can't spend all day inside, its not good for you!" metaphorically or literally beaten into them to the point that the idea of being indoors for longer than is strictly necessary is an anathema.

Thinking about it, I bet he's a hoarder and the front of the garage is the only place in the house that's remotely comfortable to spend any time at.

At least he made an effort, around here there are huge heaps of gooseberry fool all over the pavements.

I suspect Karen the Karen is responsible.

Probably keeping the bag back in case of the requirement for a makeshift mask.

The renovations next door have started again. Again, I know the work needs doing and I'm not going to say he shouldn't be doing them. It's obviously perfectly reasonable for him to be doing the work. But boy, he really seems to pick the worst times to do the noisiest work. Drilling and/or sawing started just before my lecture on interpreting ancient Chinese texts, and finished just as the lecture ended. I wish I had somewhere else to go study during the day. I'm tempted to do all my work in an evening/at night where possible
