I've sorted the payment today but just wondered if this will go down on credit score as a late payment? I've only had something like this once before and it didn't go through as a late payment but the person I spoke to seemed pretty adamant that it would and there is nothing they can do.

No, they'll tell you if they're informing experian etc.. you'll be fine. Thought about moving the DD's back a bit?

I didn't read your response tbh mate. If it goes on your credit file, it'll be for a missed payment or repeatedly late payments. The odd one wont matter.

Yeah I did that over the phone. I got a text message from them this morning about the late payment saying that I might lose any promotional rates, I checked and the money still hasn't come out of my account. I've paid it again and no doubt I will end up paying twice.

Yeah the promotional rate thing is across the board. If its a one off they usually wont take it off you

Cheers Gloat.

On a slightly different note I'm looking for a new bank account to move from my Santander 123 account but I need to be able to open another account that i can easily move money to. I'm not too worried about it as a savings account as it's more for budgeting purposes.

Any recommendations?

You'll most likely need to ask them to reinstate the promotional offer as it'll automatically be removed.

If you aren't worried about interest rates and an account that is easy to transfer in and out of use literally any bank, use one that is close to you so if you ever need to go to a branch it'll be less hassle.

So I've got £400 in my pension fund from my old job, and my current job only accepts transfers in of over £1000. What can I do with this money?

I was asking more for advice on bank accounts. The HSBC one that pays £150 then another £50 after a year looks pretty good.

Can't you just let it compound for the next 30 years or whatever.

New bank accounts Hime. Probably worth getting one with a joining promotion.

I like first direct if you've not been with them, you get a joining bonus too.

However I hear the new app based accounts like Monzo are VERY easy to use and good for budgeting etc.

Not worth the effort for £400. You'll just have to wait until you're 85 or whatever the retirement age is for us lot lmao

Thanks. The budget thing is for keeping money separate as we're getting married and it turns out it cost a strawberry floating fortune so I want to keep it completely seperate from our normal accounts.

£400? There’s not a lot you can do with it if your current pension provider will not accept that low a transfer. Once you reach 55 you will be able to cash it in but otherwise it will be stuck there unless your pension scheme changes the rules or you move somewhere else with different rules.

£12k? Same as above really, although you should have the option of transferring it to another arrangement if you want to. Transferring isn’t always worth it though, check the different scheme rules, investments, guaranteed rates etc etc. One thing to definitely check before transferring it is if you are entitled to a protected cash lump sum (this would give you a tax free cash lump sum of more than 25%), that would be lost on transfer. Just lumping everything together sounds like it is neater, but it is not always worth it and you could end up worse off.

For anyone who uses current accounts to get maximum interest on savings Club Lloyd's and Bank of Scotland have announced they are cutting interest down from 2% to 1.5% from 1st July.

Has anyone managed to get account information from an old loan by getting direct debit information from a closed bank account?

Black horse are being banana splits about helping wth a PPI claim and have advised me to contact my bank. Having it done a bit of research it sounds like Lloyds are the worst for this.

Well that's a bitch. It's amazing how TSB, Tesco and nationwide can offer such good rates whilst the others around them make cuts.

Tesco 3% is guaranteed until April next year and Nationwide 5% is only for a year which I have already used.

The glory day's of current accounts paying high interest is coming to an end.

I think regular saver's may be the next best bet.
