....That last one sounds fake and I feel checking it out would put me on a list.

Off the top of my head:

Terminator
Terminator 2
Commando
Total Recall
Predator
Conan
Running Man (I haven't seen this in decades though!)
True Lies

Jingle All The Way

Just no. Watched it last year, the ending is borderline terrible.

The Twins combination of Arnie and Danny DeVito automatically means it is a great film.

Terminator Dark Fate is a good film that simply never stood a chance because the series had been flushed down the toilet forever by Genisys.

But yeah, what is great? I'd often use it as a throwaway word to mean good, particularly if it was something I really enjoyed personally, even if I recognised 'objective' failings.

I think opinion on Jingle All The Way depends on when the person first watched it. People who watched it as young kids seem to have a much higher opinion of it than people who were older teenagers/adults when it came out. That's why it was panned when it came out, but seems to have a lot of love as time has gone by.

I guess the same can be said of Running Man. I was about 15 when that came out, managed to get in to the Odeon to watch it (might have been the first 18 I got in to) and absolutely loved it. I haven't seen it for a while but with fresh eyes, I imagine it's not that great.

Dark Fate was okay, but it still felt like just yet another retread of what had come before.

What the series needed, was a continuation of the story from Salvation, only done better (mind you, Salvation was not the disaster it was made out to be) as the war against the machines would have allowed for some new and interesting ideas.

Since T3 I’ve always wanted a film which ditches all the Connors/future war/leader/Arnie/save the future stuff and tells a story where the protagonist doesn’t get an exposition dump or a protector from the future. Just some rando who has some seemingly unstoppable guy trying to murder them. Show them escaping and surviving through sheer luck, then guile, then determination and resilience. Have them slowly figure out what they’re dealing with and decide to fight back using what they’ve learned, maybe convince others that they’re not insane and to work with them in dealing with the threat. Y’know, show the audience through their actions that this is a capable protagonist who could become a massive pain in the arse for the machines in the future.
