Video Games Live was incredible last night. So many highlights and amazing moments but the Phoenix Wright medley was up there.

I'm expecting good things from the Phoenix Wright medley. Haven't really listened to much VGL stuff since they cancelled the Birmingham gig last year, though
In other news, ended up on Emma Williams' wikipedia page after downloading the Bat Boy London cast recording.
She will be playing Maureen in a new musical production of Mrs Henderson Presents which debuted at the Theatre Royal, Bath in August 2015, before transferring to the West End's Noël Coward Theatre in February 2016. In the musical, Williams sings a brief song while totally nude with her pubic hair removed in full light at the front of the stage
That last sentence come across a little creepy
Really want to get tickets to see it, though. She's so good

Does anyone else just listen to shows even if they haven't seen them? I've been binging on Hamilton for the past few days, it's utterly fantastic
You don't often get musicals that stray this far from the tried and tested genres.
I love the lyrics to "
You'll be Back", too
"When you're gone, I'll go mad
So don't throw away this thing we had
'cause when push comes to shove
I would kill your friends and family to remind you of my love"
I didn't realise Bat Boy was quite so dark, too
(There's a whole load of
child murdering, rape, incest and bestiality in there)

Jesse Eisenberg to make UK theatre debut in The Spoils
[...]in his own play in which he plays a rich, entitled, unpleasant narcissist
I'm sure that'll be a stretch for him. It's a play he wrote himself and yet he's still typecast.
In other news, I'm auditioning for a part in my local amateur operatic production of Legally Blonde in a few weeks. Figured I'd try out for Emmett (as I can probably pull off the nerdy thing better than super-confident macho man), so I've been binging on the soundtrack and learning the last minute or so of this in preparation for the audition:
(from the "Dear God... It's scented" line onwards). It's right at the top end of my range, so the long notes are absolute carnage at the moment
Still, we'll see how it goes. Bit unlikely, but does anyone else on here do any acting stuff?
Also had no idea Emmett was Christian Borle until watching the MTV show. Now I know it's him it's obviously his voice on the original cast recording

Went to see Wicked last week, makes it the second musical Ive seen and I have to say it was very good. A lot more humour in it than I was expecting which helped the 3 hour run time clip along at a decent pace. Overall, I would recommend it.

Saw King Lear last night.
Had the young lad from Harry Potter in it as Edgar and Miltos Yerolemou (Syrio Forel) in it.
Was great - much better than all that gay gooseberry fool, Frank watches.

I'll have you know I'm a big fan of Willy Shakes' work. Seeing Romeo and Juliet in a few months
Is this King Lear the touring production I keep seeing advertised everywhere?

It's so much better than the book! Bic/Boq is brill and Popular is tremendous.

It's the one with Don Warrington as Lear.

It was the jokes about the shoes I found the funniest to be honest. Maybe it was the particular performance or something but she really nailed those bits.

Seeing Adam Buxton tonight. Doing his BUG show.
It's a special one, though. Tribute to David Bowie.
Should be mintball!

At the theatre for Breakfast at Tiffany's. Half an hour late starting thanks to "technical difficulties"

Had to bail at the interval to make our train. Shambolic
Pretty poor show too, so I'll be sending a few emails tomorrow to try and get something back.
Bob the Cat delivered a standout performance though. Just stunning.

Just got tickets for [Title of Show] at the Old Joint Stock in Birmingham. Their production of Dogfight was cracking, so I'm expecting good things. I don't know anything about the show, though
It's a musical about making a musical. So meta.

I watched my mother-in-law perform in Arthur Miller's Broken Glass at a local theatre last night. She played the sister character and she was surprisingly good! I knew she'd acted a bit many years before but it was a level of talent I'd never imagined her to have. Overall the play was good but the guy playing the Dr fluffed his lines embarrassingly badly in the opening scene which really damaged my enjoyment of everything after.

After clearing house at the Tony's they've just confirmed Hamilton is coming to London
Re-opening the Victoria Palace Theatre in October 2017. You can sign up to get alerts here:
http://www.hamiltonthemusical.co.uk/Fairly sure they've said Lin will at least be doing a few shows with them!

Seeing Aladdin later
then Romeo and Juliet tomorrow! Saw a couple of ballets and the amateur production of Title of Show too, so I need to do a big rundown post again soon...
