A French animation company has gotten the rights to do a further 3 seasons of TMCoG..... 30 years after the original aired on CBBC! The original was my favourite cartoon as a child and one of the few '80's cartoons that actually stands up well today. Colour me excited.

Loved the original as a kid but like with all things, the new version probably won't be very good. :(

This will be fansubbed in about 3 minutes flat.

Hell, french is close enough that you could probably do a decent job with Google Translate.

My history is a little hazy, but I'm pretty sure MCoG didn't air on the BBC until the mid-late 80s. It came out in Japan in 82.

MCoG did indeed air on CBBC circa 1986/7. They ran it through twice which meant that at the age of 4 I remember it seemed to go on forever.

I was born in 88 and remember it being on TV... must have aired those same episodes over and over.

Showed my brother this last night, he's ridiculously hyped.

After CBBC was done with the show it aired on cable station The Children's Channel (RIP) until about 1996.

I always wondered why some TV network didn't buy up the rights to all the old '80's franchises like MCoG, Transformers, Thundercats, He-man, M.A.S.K. etc then create a rival to Cartoon Network aimed squarely at nostalgic adults.

There was a channel called POP or something which kept showing early 90's cartoons, just a shame it was gooseberry fool like Mario and Sonic.

Now if only some company would finish Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors...

Not a bad idea. Should tweet JMS, ask if he knows where the series was going
