Still slogging away at Cowboy Bebop.
I can't help but feel it would have been much better if they didn't cast John Cho as Spike. Jet - and even Faye to a degree - is cast so well.

Cho just isn't Cool enough to play spike. I think it's the voice, the anime spike has the perfect voice.
Maybe we should start a Kickstarter campaign to get Steve Blum to provide a voice over for spike's lines for the live action :slol:

Even though English VA Spike (and English Bebop in general) is often cited as Anime Dubs Done Right, I still prefer the Japanese spike. He sounds sleepy, only half-paying-attention-cool, whereas English Spike felt a bit too I Know I'm Cool (and therefore less cool).

But both are good, and John Cho isn't :( (only seen first episode, mind). Faye Live Action seemed different but decent in her own way (once again for me the Japanese Anime Faye is my fave as she sounds younger and slightly more petulant than the older, sultry voice in English anime dub). Live Action Jet was pretty good in vibe and huff-and-puff-ness but the direction and dialogue doesn't get the most out of his performance.

The original Japanese VAs are doing the dub for the live action and I was excited to try the experiment of their voices in the new show, but Japanese language isn't available in the UK.

Though, typing this I've just realised I can probably just use a VPN to try it... Whoops!

Why on earth can't we watch a Japanese show in Japanese with English subs

I generaly watch most foreign language stuff subbed as I hate it when dialog isn't in sync with the actors mouth movements.

My example is more watching an American show, with Japanese voices and English subs - which I suppose is a little more niche!

Going to start watching this, now that it’s finished. I’m guessing you dig it? The trailer I watched a couple year back looked ace.

I really loved the first two seasons and the first 3 episodes of Season 3 have been good.

Finished Bebop Live Action last night.
Still fairly "Meh" about it.

Quite annoyed they left Ed's reveal until the very very end. Presumably to set up their appearance in a 2nd series that might not get picked up. Could have offered some needed comic relief in series 1.

Also, it only occurred to me right at the end that the actress who played Faye was also the same actress who plays the spunky dinosaur veterinarian from Jurassic World 2. I knew I recognised her from somewhere, but couldn't put my finger on it!

Thankfully Cowboy Beebop has just been cancelled. Phew!

Also super quickly, viewing figures must have been trash.

Don't feel bad about dropping Cowboy Bebop after 1 episode now and I loved the anime.

I actually really enjoyed the live action cowboy bebop, I'm pretty sad it's cancelled. I think it had promise.

That's a bit nonsensical. As well as not judging a book by it's cover, there's a - somewhat - logical reason it's called that.

It's called Cowboy Bebop because they're Bounty Hunters, and quite often get referred to as Cowboys. The bounty hunter TV show they watch, "Big Shot", is Wild West themed. The wanted signs are similar to Wild West wanted posters etc

The Bebop part is because Jet Black Captains a ship called The Bebop. Because of his love of Bebop Jazz.

Don't watch the Live Action, but do give the Anime a watch. It is superb.

Started the Witcher enjoying the second season.

I've seen a lot of discontent in the subreddit for this on Netflix and admittedly I've only played a bit of the games, never read the novels but I don't unedstand the hatred. For me it's very enjoyable

Everyone I've spoken to about it has liked S2.
