Bet Mike Ashley is rubbing his hands at the discounted deal coming his way.

Derby won’t fold. Can’t say I think Kirchner will get the deal over the line but MA loves acquiring broken businesses cheap and trying to increase their value. He’ll surely step in soon I reckon.

Seemingly more and more likely now but I wonder what state Ashley will agree to the takeover. He's not going to want to take the debt but he'd quite like the stadium and the name. It wouldn't surprise me if he took the decision to just sink them and rebuild as it would probably be cheaper in the long run. Whether the fans would go along with it after the initial uproar is another story.

Might depend which division they start off in if he did fold them and start afresh. 10th tier for new clubs isn’t it? (AFC Wimbledon started there didn’t they?)

I bet he's already asked the question. If he could swing the National League then I think he'd go for it. Anything lower though would maybe take too long to repay the minimal investment he'll have to make.

Whatever happens, Kirchner is surely done as a potential owner of an English football league club? Preston had a lucky escape not long ago

As a Derby fan it's been pretty heart wrenching watching the news and Twitter this last week. It's made an the worse by it coming out that Appleby apparently made a solid offer back in January that also sorted out the stadium and Middleborough but it was knocked aside because Kirchner had agreed to pay Quantuma a higher fee.

SSN just reported Kirchner has withdrawn his offer!

Surely Ashley is the only saviour now? He'll get them for rock bottom and the tax man and creditors will be 90% out of pocket no doubt but can't see anyone else stumping cash up in next week or so before fixtures due out?

I've just seen Andrew Andronikou is involved in the administration. Been there, done that. Hes a corrupt twat.

You'll need to get rid of him to have any chance. He sold Portsmouth to the asset stripper Balram Chainrai. Derby really does seem a carbon copy of Portsmouth, worth looking at our past to get sone potential idea of the future.

2 bits of good news for Derby fans in one day then (I don't rate him as a manager).

We're alive :toot:

And somehow not being deducted 15 points :toot:

And apparently re-signing a good chunk of our players, plus more :toot:

What a relief. It's great to actually be able to start looking forward to the new season :msgreen:.

Good news you'll still be around next season.

We need someone to laugh at as we struggle to beat your 11 points! ;)

I did hear on SSN that you have a max limit you can spend on wages, transfers and agents fees. Wonder what those limits will be in L1? I remember when we were limited to £10k per week under Freedman and the challenge that posed in the Championship.

But our rivals remain and I for one, am pleased with that!

Oh I fully expect the proper ribbing to recommence now we are no longer at risk of ceasing to exist .

There's no way a team will ever do worse than we did that season. I remember going to games in a perpetual state of disbelief that a Premier League football team was incapable of stringing more than two passes together at any time. It was a truly bizarre situation.

Getting a really good sense from the new owner already. Could just be desperation for good news but at the moment it feels genuine. If we really are still capable of attracting players like Conor Hourihane, even in League One and under restrictions, then I think there is definitely room for some optimism at least.

60% of earnings is the League 1 limit. Its a pretty suffocating limit. Not a lot of real fees for players, more loans and free agents and generally smaller squads to bring the quality in. Sunderland are a good example, I think their team got weaker and weaker over the last few seasons on paper, but it was enough to get them promoted now.

Wasn't long ago that Hourihane was the Championship assist King so if you can get him you just need some goalscorers.

Seems as though Carlos Corberan has left Huddersfield. Not official but various sources on Twitter.

Hourihane was great for us when he had the ball at his feet and the goal in his sight, but it really felt like the midfield were carrying him the rest of the time.
