Talk about Wycombe suing if the points deduction isn't applied to this season.

I don't think it will be, but it's definitely worth a fight.

I haven't! I think the fair thing would be to apply it to next season, just as they did to Sheff Weds.

Hm seems like dirty opportunism to me. I can understand why Wycombe would try of course but I don't think you can start adding points deductions retrospectively.

I'm not sure Wycombe see it that way. The only reason it's happening now is Mad Mel has dragged his heels at every turn (and reports suggest this method of un-cooperation is continuing). The more I read about, the more I think Morris should be dropped in a canal.

Would it have been applied this season if they hadn't appealed?

Of course Wycombe will see it differently; the outcome will have a massive impact on their 2021/22 season, cash-flow and reach in the transfer market.

It wouldn't have been applied at all because the initial finding threw out the EFL's charge.

They've appealed one part of it, which has been accepted, which will go to a tribunal to decide on the punishment. For some reason, although the EFL was allowed to appeal the outcome, we're now not allowed to appeal the outcome of their appeal!

I'm not sure it's Mel's fault the EFL's appeal took so long to reach an outcome? Although having just written that, I expect it's a safe assumption he will have used whatever tricks there were up his sleeves through lawyers and whatnot to delay the process. It doesn't make it right, but every legal team on the planet would advise any company do to the same.

It's hard to keep track of what is actually going on, because my main source is the hysterical postings that can be found on the fans' forum .

So, Derby pulled the plug on the sale to Alonso earlier. Probably a good thing in the long run from what I’ve read about him and his plans, but presumably the lack of sale, twice in the same season, must be a worry in the immediate future OB?

Who knows. I'd rather take the time to find a decent owner, if that's even possible, but obviously I'd also like this to be over with.

Popcorn.gif seems appropriate though

It’s keeping us entertained if nothing else so thanks for that. We’ve had little else to enjoy this season.

But I do hope you get somebody. After us, Mel can’t have us all on strings for ever can he? ;)

Honestly, I don't really care for this argument, I consider both MK and us to be different clubs. I'm happy as long as MK aren't claiming Wimbledon's history; they relinquished the FA Cup, just have to deal with the name now. ;)

I should say though that I was never a Wimbledon F.C. fan, when I was a nipper they played in Crystal Palace so were not my local club. When the gooseberry fool hit the fan in 2002 I was outraged, as I believe any decent football fan was, and took the opportunity to go and support the new club because they played just down the road and I thought they needed it. Have supported them ever since because I built that emotional connection.

I say Wimbledon FC and AFC Wimbledon have a shared, connected history. We aren't the same club - we're the best version that we can be. So no, we're not ex Premier League, but yes we can still claim to be part of that heritage of success.

I'm a fan because my grandfather played for Wimbledon and I'm from London.

RE the playoffs, would like to see Blackpool and Lincoln go up.

I base my playoffs support solely on GRcade loyalties, so it's an easy choice of Swansea for me .

My man

I thought we played well last night, and were able to cope with pretty much everything Barsnley threw at us. They don't seem to have a huge amount of individual quality so if the brute force approach they take doesn't work, their ideas are limited. The tie is far from other obviously, but I'm reasonably confident for the home leg with a 1-0 lead.

What I'm not confident about is beating Bournemouth or Brentford. Thought both teams looked very good yesterday. Sharp, quick football, always looking to attack. If we get there who knows though, anything in happen in 90 minutes and we have players like Ayew or Lowe who are more than capable of individual moments of brilliance.
