Relegating Derby now would take a pair of balls way bigger than the EFL actually has.

These rumours and headlines have been flashing around various places ever since January 2020 when the original charge was made  it's just more mainstream press is getting a bit excited about it now.

Would seem extremely distasteful to apply a points deduction and relegate a club after a season has finished. At the moment it's headline fodder so we'll just have to see what comes out of this tribunal or whatever it is.

Any points deduction will be applied next season-that's what happened to Wednesday isn't it?

I think the confusion comes from the fact that the initial charge was before the deadline for this season but the appeals process took until now.

I'm not sure on the rules. I've read that the latest a points deduction can be applied is March, but then I've also ready apparently a deduction was applied to Macclesfield after the end of the season, sending them down and then they went bust pretty much straight after that?!

Whenever I try and read up on the detail I get confused by the whole 'amortisation' thing. I think this is another breach of the rules that was actually something we did with the full consent of the EFL at the time, only for them to retrospectively decide they didn't like it after all?!

Reading that PNE’s Paul Gallagher has retired from playing at 36. This probably means strawberry float all to anyone but I attended his professional debut(2-0 win against Arsenal!) way back in 2003 and I still think of him as a young-ish player. I think he’s the first player to retire whose professional debut I’ve seen live, too.

Lincoln have stumbled of late too I think. As they have a mix of NFFC current (on loan) and ex players on their books I've been watching their results. They were top and looking possible automatic around Xmas I think it was but have only stumbled across the line for playoffs in the end.

How many seasons have Sunderland been down in L1 now? 3? 4?

This is our 2nd?
The last match against Oxford was feisty to say the least so I’m glad we dodged them for now, and Charlton for obvious reasons.

Nah, it's our 3rd :( Lost in the playoffs under Ross, didn't even make the playoffs the year it was curtailed and decided on PPG, and now this year.

The last two seasons are so weird they do seem to blend into one though.

Oh nothing against them personally, just an example of a big team in the division who should do a lot better but fall way short in ability. 8th for either club is obvious failure, but our squad IS poor at the moment. Really unbalanced.

Well you whooped us both times this season, but I appreciate that whilst League One is good for us, it must be a bit depressing for fans of all the former PL teams.

Its fine as long as we're challenging but watching us stagnate this season has been really tough, especially from afar. Mind you the Cowleys have just signed permanantly which is a big pro, but feel we need some pretty heavy work on the squad now. Feel like our League 2 winning side would kick this sides arse.

Also weve now been top twice at Christmas only to be terrible afterwards. We didnt even make the playoffs! Its a worse collapse than Reading really.

Also have MK Dons just won the argument with your admission you arent an ex Premier League team? :o ;)

Honestly, I don't really care for this argument, I consider both MK and us to be different clubs. I'm happy as long as MK aren't claiming Wimbledon's history; they relinquished the FA Cup, just have to deal with the name now. ;)

I should say though that I was never a Wimbledon F.C. fan, when I was a nipper they played in Crystal Palace so were not my local club. When the gooseberry fool hit the fan in 2002 I was outraged, as I believe any decent football fan was, and took the opportunity to go and support the new club because they played just down the road and I thought they needed it. Have supported them ever since because I built that emotional connection.
