1. I’m sure it looks lovely with a pair of jeggings.

2. The Premier League is a breakaway league from the Football League (now known as the EFL). It’s not non-league, but it’s not the Football League.

3. I’m sure it’ll be great, no fans of EFL clubs will watch it though. The competition has been utterly ruined by the addition of Premier League clubs.

1) I'm genuinely baffled how you can lay into other shirts and then say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." It's by no means the greatest hypocrisy we must face in this day and age, but you're better than that man!

For perspective, GQ said Watford's shirt is uglier than Tottenham's. Uglier. Than. Tottenham's.

Just let that sink in.

2) "INSIDE! The Worst Kit In league Football?" I know this is the EFL thread, but that's not what the thread title says. I genuinely wouldn't have posted it if that wasn't in the thread title. As an aside, I genuinely don't know why we still have two threads. Neither is busy enough anymore.

3) Can see your point, like I said, it's a novelty. Let's see how the Prem youths do though, because if they're all out by the quarters it's not ruined and may be richer. I defer to your greater knowledge on this though.

1. My posts aren’t always 100% serious. And I don’t give a gooseberry fool about GQ.

2. Football fans know what is meant by “Football League”. It doesn’t need to literally say “EFL only”, mainly because EFL is an appalling renaming of the Football League.

3. Nobody in League One or Two cares how the Premier League teams do. The competition was never held in the highest of regards, it’s less than nothing now.

I mean I thought it was pretty much a given that we’re talking about the other 72 clubs but you know, whatever. The Brentford kit is far worse than the Watford one regardless.

You're not a very welcoming lot when you're all in this thread are you? The thread subtitle said league football. It still says league football even after you've changed it to take the piss. Watford are a league football side even though they aren't in the Football League. It's called the League Cup for a reason.

It's not even like I'm interrupting proper football discussion. I'm not talking about whether Ivan Gazidis is off to Milan. I'm not talking about the poxy warm up tournaments on the poxy channels I now have instead of Dave and Gold. I was contributing to a discussion about ugly football shirts. That's all. Last time I checked Palace were in the Premier League and nobody got a cob on with lex-man for talking about their tax returns two posts above mine.

Do you mean when you were explaining something to me incorrectly?

I genuinely had no intention of derailing this thread, but if people hadn't been so oddly (and selectively) territorial this whole thing would have been over at about ten o'clock last night.

It's funny you say that because if we had one thread this wouldn't have happened.

People were just pointing out it's a thread for Championship, League 1 and League 2. Which you said earlier you knew anyway. You posted something off topic. What is there to get?

The 'wrong thread' thing is a bit of a GRcade meme. Don't worry about it. I recently read one of those 'new kits rated' type clickbait lists where the Watford shirt came top, so it's clearly just a marmite shirt. Whereas the Brentford one is universally agreed to be gross.

Also, this is how it started:

Dowbocop wrote:All this talk of bad kits and nobody has mentioned Watford.

That’s a pretty innocuous post, nothing wrong with it.

The replies were:

more heat than light wrote:Wrong thread mate. Also that kit is totally decent.

Nothing wrong with that post either, it points out that it hasn’t been mentioned because this thread doesn’t discuss Watford and says that the kit is decent.

Moggy wrote:It’s not that bad and they are not in the Football League.

As with mhtl’s posts, my post explained that Watford are not part of the Football League and that the kit is not that bad. Nothing “territorial” about it, just that it is not a kit that would be brought up in here.

You then replied with:

Dowbocop wrote:1) Get your eyes tested. It's a Marmite kit anyway, then they slap a clashing logo on it. I love yellow shirts and I dislike even looking at it.

2) Read the thread title. The Football League is Championship, League One and League Two. "League football" includes the Premiership.

3) All the big boys are in the Checkatrade Trophy this year so you can't escape Photek even in here.

“Get your eyes tested” and “All the big boys” are the first hostile sounding posts in the entire exchange, probably not meant that way but certainly enough to get a reaction. And the reactions were not territorial, they were piss taking in the same vein as your post. Add in your confusion about the difference between the Premier League and the Football League and we had a recipe for a few days of pointless arguments.

Most of what has been written to you has been either piss taking or thread memes. Don't take it so seriously, we are not really having an argument, we are passing the time until the new season starts. I hope that clears it up.

No, I meant when you seemed to be unable to understand the difference between the Premier League and the Football League.

I obviously know the difference, but whilst the PL and EFL are different all the sides in it are "league" sides, therefore when something is posited as the worst thing in "league football" (again, read the thread title) it should really include the PL as well. If what you say was true the Championship would be the top flight, wouldn't it? They also wouldn't talk about the "best record in all the four leagues", or say "forty places separate these two sides". It is a small point but I don't appreciate being told I'm wrong when I'm not. It was your condescending tone (see your post above) which soured the exchange in my eyes. I know about the memes, but for the reasons above, and the fact that, whilst I enjoy it immensely, football kits aren't exactly the most important part of football discourse, I thought putting in another ugly kit might stimulate some discussion. Mission accomplished :slol: Add to that the fact that someone had posted something about Palace (that I don't think any Palace fans have seen because it really is in the wrong thread!), and you can understand why I see it as oddly territorial.

If you want to get precious about "eyes tested" and "big boys" then fine, but I don't think they're that bad.

Right, I turned up early for work and now I'm fifteen minutes behind. Catch you guys later!

Maybe it's just me but I actually quite like that Watford kit. It reminds me of Celtic's old bumblee top, only with a different yellow and obviously inferior vertical stripes instead of mighty, mighty hoops.
