I picked up Virtua Racing. I had a bit of fun with it for 3 days, and for the price point I think that's plenty. Instant fun, but there is so little actually there. But certainly the best version I have played outside the sit down cabinet that I used to play in the early 90's.

Night in the Woods was my personal GOTY for 2018. It's a story-driven 2D journey with some wonderful characters; I loved the atmosphere and the way the game dealt with issues and feelings.

If you read that and are now thinking "Man, that sounds interesting" then it's definitely worth a look. If you thought "bloody hell, so boring, no guns" then avoid!

Im loving Night in the Woods so far - defintely my sort of game and a game that feels so right on the switch.

Hasn't really "picked up" yet - but i would be happy if doesn't at all - just really happy wondering around listening* to all the conversations

I'm glad that you're enjoying it, Barnsy! The storylines get pretty deep, belying the cartoon appearance of the game. If it grabs your interest it evolves into quite an experience.

Yeah, really memorable game, such a unique atmosphere. I might play it again (it feels like the right time of year).

Picked up some eshop tat in the sales for about 90p each. Mecho Tales, Crash Dummy, Kid Trip for journey when I get desperate.

I really like Kid Trip. I can't face Celeste just yet after playing Gris, so wanted a unforgiving, retro platformer but without the depression element. Really addictive, tricky, well put together platform game. Definitely worth £1

I know this was months ago - but I was just interested did you play Night in the Woods and what did you think?

I purchased it after reading about it here but haven't played it yet. But this is definitely the sort of game I could love.

Are there other weird indie games like this worth trying?

I thought it was great on the whole Barnsy! If anything maybe a little repetitive towards the end in how you progress in game days but the story is pretty good and the characters are fantastic, quite relatable at times as well. It’s yet another game I’m planning on doing a second run of, when the relentless onslaught of Switch games slows down

I finished and absolutely loved Night in the Woods - one of my best gaming experiences

I think Night in the Woods might be a yearly Autumn tradition for me

Picked up some little platformers like Kidd Trip - but I think Firewatch and Brothers: A tale of two sons will be the next games I play.

While I loved my time with Night in The Woods I don’t know if I’d be able to cope playing through it each year, mainly as I found it slow going towards the end, thankfully the story and the characters kept me going.

Firewatch is definitely on my to buy/play list as well.

There's a big ubisoft sale on Switch that ends today. Some big reductions - I got Mario Rabbid Rabbits (£11) and Child of Light (£7) - I loved Child of Light all those years ago so excited to revisit it. They also had Assassins Creed 3 (£15) - played it whatever year it came out and have fond memories of it, but personnally don't have any desire to play again
