Gutted for Hamilton.

Fair play to Nico though, drove well when under pressure. Something needs to be done to make the races more exciting, there are only a handful of entertaining races a season now.

Toto- Maybe Lewis should drive for Christian Horner.

Also, shame to see Jenson go out the way he did. Hope he hangs around the sport in some capacity, he's a great guy. :wub:

Why would Mercedes want to get rid of their best driver?

Glad Rosberg won it and kept his nerve.

Also agree with Lotus about JB but it's the right time for to retire.

Just watched the gp as I watched on plus 1.

Mercedes can strawberry float off with their attempt at team orders at the end. Clearly showing that all they care about is winning the race and not about the actual drivers championship.

Overall I'm not a exactly a Hamilton fanboy, he can be stroppy and moody but he is a better racer than rosberg and in my opinion lost the championship part because of his mechanical failures and partly because of a few poor starts.

You could say Hamilton lost the championship in Malaysia. You could also say he lost it in Japan

I've always said an F1 season is too long for someone to be a lucky champion and I maintain that. He is not as exciting, divisive, or interesting as Hamilton but he is quick and consistent. I think it's a shame he has been able to clinch the title with a string of seconds but he did enough, fair play.

I enjoyed Hamilton doing his thing to make the race interesting, I don't know what Merc were playing at with the team orders.

The team orders thing really annoyed me. I watched on channel 4 and the commentators there particularly coultard were rightly defending Hamilton. Not idea what they were saying over on sky f1. Can't believe the comments of various Mercedes personal afterwards though.

Toto Wolff, the Mercedes head of motorsport, said: “Undermining a structure in public means you are putting yourself before the team. It is very simple. Anarchy does not work in any team and in any company.”

Wolff said he had not yet decided whether to crack down on a driver who has had 32 of his 53 race wins with the Silver Arrows since joining from McLaren in 2013. “The other half of me says it was Lewis’s only chance of winning the championship at the stage and maybe you cannot demand a racing driver that is one of the best, if not the best out there, to comply in a situation where his instincts cannot make him comply.

“It is about finding a solution as to how to solve that in the future because a precedent has been set. Let me sleep overnight and come up with a solution.”

A simply apology to Lewis should do it Toto, no need to sleep on it.

Hamilton was supported by Wolff’s opposite number at Red Bull, Christian Horner, who had cheekily suggested a few days earlier that the Mercedes driver should employ the strategy. Horner said: “I wouldn’t have expected him to do anything different. He played completely within the rules.

“Winning the race wasn’t going to be enough for him today, he needed cars between him and, if he’d charged off into the distance, he wouldn’t have created that possibility. So he won the race as slowly as he could. It’s like in a football game where the team might protect from the opposition by kicking the ball around and not enabling the opposition to get hold of the it. I didn’t see that he did anything wrong today.”

Horner, whose Red Bull dominated Formula One before the rise of Mercedes in 2014, added: “We know that Toto likes to control most things in the paddock, including other teams’ drivers. I understand that Toto has suggested that Lewis followed my instruction rather than his, and he should come and drive for Red Bull.

Johnie Herbert was very much of the same opinion and angled it directly to both Paddy Lowe and Toto Wolff which was interesting.

Toto even said he wouldn't interfere. There was simply no need for it, Hamilton's tactics were his only option. If Rosberg was so much quicker then he should have passed Hamilton and won the race but he couldn't.

Shame I was going to go to the German GP next year, may be go to Austria instead though the city it's near is a bit small.

As much as I don't like Hamilton I have no problem at all with his tactics today.

What if it had played out differently. Let's say that by backing up the following cars there was an accident in an overtake or defence attempt. As a minimum, thousands of pounds damage done to the cars and at worst, one of the drivers is injured. Are Hamilton's tactics still OK? He wasn't putting just his own safety at risk but also other drivers, which I feel is unacceptable.

So you're worried that an overtaking attempt may lead to an accident? I fear that this may not be the sport for you.

If Nico had a problem with it and Lewis was so slow, he should have overtaken him, but in keeping with tradition, he's not competed a single overtake on lewis so why start now eh? :simper:

Nothing to do with my worry, purely that Hamilton could be creating an unnecessary dangerous situation.
