Why on earth would any driver willingly leave the Mercedes juggernaut? It’s not like Ferrari are perfect in every other area (poor strategy calls, woeful at developing mid season etc) except the actual car performance. I could only see him going once he’s smashed all of Schumacher’s records and just goes to Ferrari (as it’s obviously a special team/destination for most, if not all of the drivers) for the last season or two of his career.

Obviously he can do what he wishes but if I were in his position I wouldn’t even be entertaining a move till 2022 at the earliest so you can see who’s adapted best to the new regulations in 2021.

Edit, as crazy as it might sound I can still see Vettel and Verstappen swapping, maybe even for next year? Vettel just doesn’t seem on it as much as he should be and Max is certainly on the up, Max and Charles in the same team would be insane as well.

How much longer does Hamilton have left in his career though? He'll be 37 in 2022.

Different sport obviously but Federer's 37 now and he can still complete at the top level in tennis. You have to assume Hamilton has no intention of retiring until he surpasses Schumacher's record or realises it's unattainable.

He mentioned in an interview he did before the season about doing another 5 years, it’ll depend if he’s still motivated after a few more years of smashing all the records with Mercedes. Speaking of age, Kimi is 39 now and will be 41 by the time his current contract with Alfa Romeo is up at the end of next year, Alonso could have easily gone on for longer if he could have got a top team willing to take him on.

Amazingly this is actually from their twitter account by the looks of it, wonder if it’s the same chap who they’re trying to oust?

The best layout was the 91-93 setup.

I went to Silverstone for the British Touring Car's Night Race back in 2000 and me and my dad (rip) we sat at the grandstand by Bridge seeing the cars fly past us and into the complex was awesome.

Found this for the 1991 layout :datass:

I did the Silverstone daytime meetings that year, i was a BTCC regular during 1997-2004.

I still remember the season finale in 1998 when Mansell took part, the crowd was the biggest i had ever seen at a touring car weekend, and later in the afternoon i was in the paddock and saw Rickard Rydell celebrating his title victory with the team.

Love watching footage of old F1 races

Germany this weekend anyway (not that anyone probably needed reminding), Mercedes have apparently brought a big upgrade, showing no signs of slowing down :dread:

At least it’ll be fun watching Vettel move through the field tomorrow, let’s just hope he doesn’t crash :shifty:
